RECORDING 11: THE FOURTH MURDER.

A fourth week, and this is now definitely routine. Waking on friday, with the knowledge deep down that your number has yet again decreased.

You must still pull yourself from your bed, and discover who is now forever gone.

...But, wait.

What's that smell...?

[ romani stares at the corpse blankly, in mute shock as his brain tries to process the fact that ango is dead.

ango is dead.

he's dead, therefore, he will join the miasma.

he will join the miasma, therefore they will know what he knows.

they will know what ango knows, therefore----- ]

Damn it! Why?!

[ his hands are shaking now, but he'll continue investigating the body. he'll try to look around the body. are there any hand prints or fingerprints on the blanket? ]

[Whoever did this was careful enough to not leave any hand prints of fingerprints on the blanket - odd, considering the amount of blood that Romani saw on his way out of his room.

As he looks, he'll notice some slight staining on the front of Ango's shirt, as well as full body electrical burns. His left hand is bloody, and there's a bullet wound in the shoulder of his right arm.]

[ well he's going to take a look at those burns. how severe are they? and the bullet wound, was that done before death or post-mortem? and is it a clean wound or is the bullet still lodged into it?

and, aside from that, what about that stain? is it different than a bloodstain? does it have a characteristic smell or color that romani would be able to tell? ]

[They're Kind of bad - they seem to be most severe around his ankles and up to his legs, but there is also general burns all over his body.

The bullet wound was done before death, but it looks like you'll have to tip him over to get a better look at it, because the entrance wound is from the back.

As for the stain, it's definitely not blood. The freezing doesn't help with trying to determine what it is, but he'll be able to smell (with some work) whiskey and a hint of something....like gasoline, but not. Definitely like some kind of fluid you'd put in a machine or car, though.]

[ so do those burns on his ankles look like they have any specific shape or markings? either way, he'll be taking pictures of the burns.

as for the fluid, he'll keeping that in mind...he supposes that they'll have to cross reference whatever was in the laboratory.

he will also be turning ango over in order to see that bullet wound. ]

[Hey fun fact don't look up electrical burns, jesus christ. Anyway, no, not really - more like they came from something ankle-height. While he's down there, he'll also notice some lacerations to the ankles and some damage to his pant legs, like a tiny machine ran over them.

As he does - which is hard, because Ango is frozen stiff at this point - he'll not only see that yes, the bullet is still in the wound with the one that is on his left side where the shoulder and neck meet, but also that there's a bullet hole in the crown of the back of the head, the shot coming slightly from the side.

And just because I'm an idiot and misread which bullet hole you were talking about, to clarify: the bullet hole on his right shoulder was done from the front, facing ango.]

[ well he might have to take a picture of that to compare with saphir's roomba thing.

he will take a look at the three bullet holes with a little more detail. are the entrance wounds around the same size? can he get the caliber of the bullet from it, at least?

and, of course, he will be checking ango for any defensive wounds on himself or any bones that were broken, aside from the obvious places where the bullets did their damage. ]

[The Entrance wounds do look similar! It seems like it's the same caliber as standard issue foundation pistols, aka a 9mm.

Ango doesn't seem to have defensive wounds, but he does have bruising on his right arm, along the forearm, as if he attempted to catch himself from a hard fall. There are also scuffs and friction marks on his front, as if he crawled out somewhere.

There's also clear indications of frostbite, though Romani will be able to tell those are post-mortem.]

[ hmm... any signs of dirt or blood under his fingernails?

and can he determine time of death? ]

[Romani, he's frozen solid. Good luck determining a time of death without proper equipment for that.

At the very least, he can assume he died sometime in the early night to be frozen this solidly, so potentially around midnight to 2pm.

There is, obviously, blood on the underside of his left hand, so there might be some blood there - but not really on the other hand.]

aside from seeing how much blood is on his hand and if it looks like it was wiped off, then is there anything else he can look for? ]

Anyway, no. It feels like he's gotten all he can, without going digging in ango's body.]

[Good thing we don't need to actually dig into the body!! Okay, let's go x-ray a nerd. Presumably we'll find some bullets, but what else is there? Any broken bones and other fun stuff?]

[ You will indeed find some bullets, but one of them seems odd. While the ones in the head and the back of the neck look to be what you expect, the one embedded in the shoulder looks like it has even more damage than usual. It looks more squished.

It's also clear that he bled out almost all of his blood. ]

[Huh, well that's interesting. Is that particular bullet stopped up against bone or anything?

Also just some clarification about the location of the bullet wounds: there was a bullet between the neck and shoulder; does it look like it could've passed through the subclavian artery or is the positioning too off for that?]

[Nice, alright then. Assuming there's nothing else to note on the x-ray front, let's do an extra check on the gunshot wounds for clarifications. I'm assuming none of them look like contact or near-contact shots, correct? They're just round, like what you'd get if you shot someone from mid to long range?

Second, can he get an idea of the distance the shooter was at based on the presence (or absence) of gunpowder stippling on Ango's corpse?]

[ It might be worth noting that the bullet is squished in the direction facing towards the wound instead of inward. While there is nothing else to note here, maybe there are other bullets some where else that have similar damage.

None of the wounds look like they are contact or near-contact shots. They are round and consistent with a mid to long range shot.

He won't find any gunpowder stippling on Ango's corpse. ]

[Alright, cool!! Do they have tweezers around in the house that he could use to pick the bullets out of their wounds because apparently today is a day for good life decisions. Or are they going to have to thaw Ango first......]

[ They might need to thaw him out a bit first, but they should be able to find tweezers some where around the house or in the supplies they brought with them. ]

[Okay, that works. Timelines are also a lie so I have no clue when this investigation takes place but hopefully Dazai doesn't walk in on Date sticking tweezers into his dead friend to pull out a bunch of bullets!!

Anyway, after the bullets are out, I assume they're your standard 9mm from the Foundation, yes?]
