RECORDING 10: THE FOURTH WEEK.

A fourth week in this place begins, with less of your number among you. The last trial took it's toll, along with the death of an innocent person - executed at behest of the rules of this game.
When you wake up - it's clear the Miasma has yet again gotten thicker. Everyone, including those who were divinely protected until this week, are now even more deeply affected by the curse - though those who possess nullification powers are still safe. Arguments will be flaring up more, along with negative thoughts and feelings...and even more worrying is now that occasional flashes of bad memories will come to the forefront.
Any magic that touches the house itself will corrode over time, just like last week. If a barrier is put in place and touches the floor, walls, or ceiling, in half a day it will be completely consumed by the miasma and fizzle out. Spells or seals will also corrode, and now healing has been drastically reduced to even the most powerful of spells only healing minor injuries.
You will not be able to save a grievously injured person from death through spells anymore.
The Temperature still remains in about the 60's, thankfully - though it is staying on the 'lower' end of the scale. As before, the rooms have changed, so hopefully you kept anything essential in the static area.
21 of your number still remain.
...What new horrors await you this week?

Just by looking at him, I've no doubt he'd wilt under the pressure. Maybe have a heart attack from the nerve of being thrust into such a position.

If anything, you're better suited for this, Gilgamesh-sama.

[ He'll smirk slightly. Despite what he's said so far, his big-ass ego never stopped being a thing. ]
Though, you know my feelings on the matter, Detective. And besides, perhaps if we're forced into a having to vote out an innocent once more, my choice could be made based on the whims of a King more than anything else. Perhaps I wouldn't hesitate to say as much either at the time. Undoubtedly, it'd be a situation that could cause conflict on it's own, and...
[ ... ]
What's this '-sama' mean, exactly?
no subject
And it's a Japanese honorific, generally reserved for the highest of classes and respect. Kami-sama being a god, for example. Gilgamesh Heika would probably be more accurate, though. It's closer to "Your Majesty".

[ A light frown touched his face, remembering Seteth's last words. ]
I suppose either of the two would be suitable, then.

[ you know, like when he totally stopped sho's bomb from-- oh wait ]

Such an reaction leaves him so amused, though. ]
You've proven yourself more than useful...in other matters. I simply doubt you'd be any use in this one.
no subject
[ he doesn't really want this responsibility anyway, he just wants to feel popular. SO AS LONG AS YOU'RE ACKNOWLEDGING THAT HE IS USEFUL... ]

"Normally I'd say these are bad qualities. But... this is a life or death situation, and we're not counting on them to make day-to-day decisions. It's only right we have a leader who doesn't want to make this decision. Then we know they won't misuse it and simply punish their enemies.
In other words, we need someone with a conscience and sense of humility that keeps them honest."]

[ He could easily see a picture of Ritsuka come into mind as she described this. ]
Though, arguably beyond this, there are a few more important qualities. Such as having an iron will, and being able to withstand the pressure of the situation. Inevitably, when a leader makes a mistake, he or she should be prepared for the backlash that they'll receive. Or even when they attempt to enforce an unpopular decision.
They need to be able to expect and anticipate great failures amidst their success. And because they would become the person everyone looked to, they'll need to keep a show of weakness away from their followers, lest they lower morale or faith in their person.
Can you tell me that he'd be capable of such things?
no subject
[She writes out, carefully:
"No... but you realize by your own criteria, you would be the best leader, Your Highness?"]
no subject
Gilgamesh wondered if that was her true intention all along. Look, he couldn't not think so, and he let out a laugh. ]
That I would.
And as expected, there are many who seem to be of the same mind as well. I suppose it's something I may need to consider if we actually do end up going in the direction of choosing a leader. Until then, my original stance still stands.
no subject
Then she writes:
"I understand. I don't disagree. But the way I see it... I would want a leader who would follow the rules, so to speak. Rules that we decided. Your Highness is the type he doesn't follow the rules: he is the rules.
But it seems to me that although we may not end up with a leader this week, we may next week."]

He didn't even think she was wrong at all. Even if he was aware that there was some ego-stroking here, he never really minded when that happened. ]
It's likely that could be the case. As we get closer to the source of all this, it'd make sense for us to eventually decide upon a leader, even if I'd certainly wouldn't advocate for us to have one now.
By this time next week, we should at the very least have more information that may make it possible for us to put together a plan.
[ An ideal situation/scenario for sure. But, there's been a pattern, and with Date's provided information putting a possible target on the map...and Romani's declaration, he didn't see why it would be impossible? ]
