RECORDING 10: THE FOURTH WEEK.

A fourth week in this place begins, with less of your number among you. The last trial took it's toll, along with the death of an innocent person - executed at behest of the rules of this game.
When you wake up - it's clear the Miasma has yet again gotten thicker. Everyone, including those who were divinely protected until this week, are now even more deeply affected by the curse - though those who possess nullification powers are still safe. Arguments will be flaring up more, along with negative thoughts and feelings...and even more worrying is now that occasional flashes of bad memories will come to the forefront.
Any magic that touches the house itself will corrode over time, just like last week. If a barrier is put in place and touches the floor, walls, or ceiling, in half a day it will be completely consumed by the miasma and fizzle out. Spells or seals will also corrode, and now healing has been drastically reduced to even the most powerful of spells only healing minor injuries.
You will not be able to save a grievously injured person from death through spells anymore.
The Temperature still remains in about the 60's, thankfully - though it is staying on the 'lower' end of the scale. As before, the rooms have changed, so hopefully you kept anything essential in the static area.
21 of your number still remain.
...What new horrors await you this week?

And... actually, this is pretty weird stuff to be in a lab? How unscientific. As he thinks that, he glances at Saphir. Hm. Don't mind him as he takes a finger and spreads the tarot deck, then tidies it back up and pockets it. Don't put cards near Crow, he's got problems. ]
Cool. Didn't know they started including occult science into the lab yet.
[ Assuming the tarot cards don't, like, explode in his pocket or something, he hands the spiritualism book to Saphir and puts an ear to the drawers! Any humming or weird noises? Assuming no, he edges one out slowly, pauses, and then edges it out the rest of the way.
If it also does not explode and he doesn't see any trick bottoms or trip wires, he'll repeat the process for the other drawers. ]

But yeah, as someone who's been doing science at the Foundation for a while now, it does seem very weird here! ]
That doesn't seem like the type of thing they'd incorporate into technology in this world at all. Everyone generally considers there to be a hard line between science and magic, as I understand it.
[ Tentatively opens the book to flip through it... ]

Or not. It looks like the tarot are safe to pocket.
He won't hear any odd noises as he puts an ear to the drawer. When he starts to open it, he'll hear something rolling around in there and lightly clinking against something. If he keeps going he will find a collection of crystals.
The book seems to be the Encyclopedia of Occultism. ]

Also, if they are, he probably recognizes them since he spent some time at an occult club.
What about the other drawers, anything of note in them? ]

[ Maybe you could absorb miasma in them or something, though...? Hm.
Is there anything notable about the book besides its title? Any handwriting or highlighting if he flips through? Is it the same age as most of the books around here? ]

Nothing to note about the other drawers. He will find a fancy, old fountain pen in there.
There is nothing notable about the books. They are about the same age (early 1900s) as the rest of the books in the house.
They will get the feeling there isn't anything else to find in the Lab. ]

Here, you take one, too.
[ He looks back in the drawer and... hm. This one? Yeah, this one. He plucks up a pink tourmaline gem and holds it out to Saphir.
Also, this is the guy who carried a cat toy around for no reason other than "'cause." Silly notions like logic and reason don't apply to Crow Armbrust! For instance, he leaves the fancy fountain pen even if it's nice and he has no reason not to want it. ]

[ He'll take it...? He feels a little weird about specifically being given this color, but it's... pretty, he guesses. And now it kind of matches both his necklace and his face, thanks!! ]
I'm not sure if the fact that nothing else in here looks particularly suspicious is a relief or if it just means we're going to be caught off guard later.
