WEEK 2 - TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....glory? It's hard to tell.
The doors close, and he speaks up, this time reclining on one of the couches in the room.
"You know the drill - Since one of you have died during the game, it's your responsibility to try and vote someone out. You have six hours to talk about it, but then-"
He taps on a box on the coffee table in front of him, labeled 'VOTES'.
"-you'll have to put in your vote so someone can be punished. You all saw what happens when you refuse to play, right?"
He leans back, placing his hands behind his head.
"So get to it."
As he says that, music begins to play in the room...
27 GUESTS REMAIN.

Why would there be eight execution methods? If it was just for show, they wouldn't make us select it, they'd choose it on their own, even if they might still make us do it. So the choice is important.
The next part is, if it's possession, then that means it should be able to survive even if the body's lost, correct? I mean, I can safely that dying does not necessarily mean that one's gone for good.
So if we combine these two questions, then the question is: "How can we guarantee that any of these execution methods will work?" Even if they kill the body, that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It might just possess someone else instead.

But if we vote for someone else and keep Flat-san here, we could be voting out an innocent person! And on top of that, the Barghest would be free to kill again!

At the very least, we know fire and stabbing is out.

I hadn't. . . thought about that.

Still, we need samples and tests to be sure. There weren't any webs this time around, so we couldn't gather them to test, so all we really know is that they stop getting sticky when wet.

I still have that fur.
Do you want it back to run tests on it?

Still... Hanging, Drowning, Stabbing, Immolation, Electrocution, The Iron Maiden... I think I've forgotten one or two, too... I'm not sure how to test some of those. Drowning and Immolation are easy enough to test, but the rest...

[he knows]
What about their legends? What if we draw from those in an attempt to figure out their weakness?

[mmm]
I'll have to do my research. But we have to know that drowning is likely the way to defeat the Jorogumo, right? Because water melted the webbing.

[Or I guess in forward-dated land they can learn more. But anyway.]
The spider web also wasn't affected by stabbing, but it might be hard to figure things out just from testing a part of the creature.
