TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....glory? It's hard to tell.

The doors close, and he speaks up, this time reclining on one of the couches in the room.

"You know the drill - Since one of you have died during the game, it's your responsibility to try and vote someone out. You have six hours to talk about it, but then-"

He taps on a box on the coffee table in front of him, labeled 'VOTES'.

"-you'll have to put in your vote so someone can be punished. You all saw what happens when you refuse to play, right?"

He leans back, placing his hands behind his head.

"So get to it."

As he says that, music begins to play in the room...

In that case, unless Flat is lying, I don't think he would have the knife skills needed to...do that to Yoshi.

There are strange inconsistencies in his logic everywhere.

Besides-- it's very possible someone is lying. No one confessed to being part spider last week... so we could all be hiding our abilities to some degree.

That's also not the answer you initially gave me.

[ flat's shoulders slump. he's a bit more relaxed but...not exactly happy either. obviously this took a lot out of him, and that's saying something.]

...It's entirely possible he could know how to use a knife for things other than cooking, you know. He is a mage.

...That's entirely fair. But wouldn't it be odd for a mage to use a knife?

Not at all. Plenty of rituals require blood. And besides, a lot of mages know at least some physical self-defence since magic isn't always reliable for that kind of thing.

[Hmmm. Ripley crosses her arms, looking displeased.]

I'm no investigator. Nor do I know anything about magic. So I wouldn't know.

Why would he hold that back, if he had nothing to fear?

I...don't know, alright?

[She sounds frustrated--she hasn't gotten to any conclusions, and this magic aspect isn't exactly helping, either.]

... [she sighs.]

When the Apprentice first appeared, Flat bragged about being right that the hotel was haunted, and that one of his best friends was a ghost.

He even apologized for scaring me and reassuring me that "one ghost isn't so bad."

It's conceivable that he'd be shocked, but not because a puppy popped through a wall

Maybe he doesn't like...dogs? Though I guess I don't see why he wouldn't have just said that in the first place...

But he seemed relaxed later, I'm not sure "the puppy was asleep" would erase a fear of dogs.

[He has a lot to think about now, that's for sure. Not that he looks very happy about it.]

Yeah, exactly. So you shouldn't make any assumptions about what he is or isn't capable of.
