TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....glory? It's hard to tell.

The doors close, and he speaks up, this time reclining on one of the couches in the room.

"You know the drill - Since one of you have died during the game, it's your responsibility to try and vote someone out. You have six hours to talk about it, but then-"

He taps on a box on the coffee table in front of him, labeled 'VOTES'.

"-you'll have to put in your vote so someone can be punished. You all saw what happens when you refuse to play, right?"

He leans back, placing his hands behind his head.

"So get to it."

As he says that, music begins to play in the room...

Bennings-san was also announced as safe, more definitively than Nanase-san was.

And we'd proved last week that the one thing they had to fear from couldn't be used for trials, and presumably investigation.

I concur, Bennings would have been a better target for this week than Yoshi.

Maybe they do want to target Bennings, but think we're protecting him? Because it makes the most sense to stick around whoever is clear. If a group of people is protecting him, then that's a lot of witnesses if the mafia tries anything.

Which leaves them free to prey on everyone else, if we choose to protect Bennings every week.

And it's also a matter of 'who can I kill' too. Yoshi is very small and not strong. If this mafia is a weaker one, Yoshi would be an easy kill. Easy kills mean not much evidence left behind.

Hm, and our group is has a good number of those who are trained to defend themselves and those who aren't. [ an idea is forming in his head here ]

As a spider, the Jorogumo would have access to things that would make taking out a stronger opponent easier...

And we don't really know what a ghost-dog would have. Presumably teeth and claws?

But like any dog, they'd be susceptible to attacks at closer range. Which is why they always go for the weakest members of any herd.

Exactly. Which means that, in addition to protecting Bennings-san, we need to protect the 'weakest' of our group.

I agree.

That might be true, but... there's also a potential for a role trying to protect Bennings since he's absolutely guaranteed, you know? So it's easier to go after someone who isn't guaranteed.

Especially since they didn't know what his role was until the announcement.

Yes, but that doesn't disprove my initial thought. This wasn't a strategic move.
