RECORDING 7: THE THIRD WEEK.

A third week in this place begins, with less of your number among you. The final week completely covered by everyone's rations, though with proper meting out, you'll be able to make it stretch until after week 4. It seems as if everyone will have to go without a few meals here and there..
To make things worse, when you wake up - it's clear the Miasma has gotten thicker. Everyone, save those still protected either by their powers or items they brought with them, is now even more deeply affected by the curse. Arguments will be flaring up more, along with negative thoughts and feelings...and even more worrying Is that any magic that touches the house itself will corrode over time. If a barrier is put in place and touches the floor, walls, or ceiling, in half a day it will be completely consumed by the miasma and fizzle out. Spells or seals will also corrode, and even personal healing abilities have been halved.
The Temperature has dropped, just a bit - down to the mid to low 60's. Strange, isn't it? As before, the rooms have changed, so hopefully you kept anything essential in the static area.
25 of your number still remain.
...What new horrors await you this week?

Anyway, he nods.]
If I remember right, it has to be in a dimly lit room, so the bathroom would work. The whole principle behind it pretty interesting - it's easy for people to imagine seeing something on the walls or their face distorting in the mirror in low light.
Ihihihi...it's odd, but I'm getting a little excited. I never tried the Hanako-san legend when I was in school, but I remember kids getting dared to do it all the time.
[He's even grinning.]
Alright, if you can go get the candles, cup, and a lighter, we can all do this together. I'll be waiting in the bathroom for you guys.
no subject
[Was this what it was like? It was so strange to think about that all 'supernatural' stories had to be redone as being special effects... nevertheless, she shot Yachi a tiny little triumphant grin when they were out of Battler's immediate line of vision.]
Well... there we go. Thanks for that, Hitoka-chan.
no subject
[But, it seemed good enough.]
Okay, I left the candle in the kitchen, so if you want to grab that and a cup, I'll go grab a match off Dazai-kun.
[And... off they go, in that vein!
Eventually, everybody reconvenes at the bathroom.]
Okay, this should be everything, I think.
no subject
Got it all? Ihihihi, then hand it over and let's get this started!
[He'll hold his hands out for the needed items, looking excited - like it was just something to scare them all, but ultimately harmless.]
You two're going to stay in the room, right? You just want me to be the one to say it - which is fine! I'm pretty brave, after all!
[...He's in...a really good mood, after what had happened earlier.]
no subject
Ah, that's right...
[A nervous little glance at Yachi.]
We're all in this together. Battler says the words, Hitoka-chan has her book, and I'll... um... be the second set of eyes, so we don't miss anything.
no subject
I-I was thinking Rosa could stand... right outside? Um, in case the door slams shut or something behind us, and we need help getting out again. It's been... It's been a really trap-filled week, after all.
[Oh, but speaking of the notebook.]
I'm, uh, not sure how many times we have to say the name, exactly, but I figure we can try once, three times, and then go up to four, seven, and thirteen. before giving up, if nothing seems to happen. Does... does that sound okay?
no subject
...I don't mind if Aunt Rosa waits outside, but...we'd have to close the door anyway. There's too much ambient light from the hallway for this to work.
[Just..y'know...saying.....also he still doesn't really trust Rosa and himself in a closed room.]
The rest of that seems fine, though. It should only be three times from what I remember, but...we can do this methodically, sure.
no subject
[A slight little shrug. Her aversion to possible death at the hand of some trap was worth more than possibly avoiding this sort of embarrassment, it seemed.]
Oh, how about this? I'll hold the door knob from the outside... if something moves to lock you both in, I'll shove it open. Deal?
no subject
[She thinks of the locked room's floor.]
Just in case... be ready to dodge out of the line of sight of the mirror, too.
[She takes a bracing breath and lights the candle before stepping into the bathroom, making room for Battler and switching off the lights. Once the door is shut... that's that.]
I-I'm ready when you are.
no subject
[With the lights down, and the candle held just in front of him...he stares directly at the mirror, taking a deep breath...and begins to chant.]
Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary...
no subject
Yachi - and Rosa just outside - will begin to smell it. The pungent smell of blood. A single drop of blood plaps onto Yachi's notebook - crawling, almost wriggling lines of that crimson liquid grow on the ceiling, spreading slowly to the walls, which then seem to leak with blood that feels alive, as if it could reach out and tear someone to bits for the sin of gazing upon it.
A face appears in the mirror, replacing Battler's - though he makes no indication of seeing the beautiful woman there, gazing out at him as if she were making a decision. Then, with a laugh, she lifts her arms and reaches forward, crossing over from the mirror into the real world -
Her arms are horrifying, skeletal with dessicated, dried flesh still hanging on...her hands have been elongated into tapered points with hooks on the end, meant for rending flesh - and her face...as if one stared into the face of the goddess of the dead, one side still beautiful, with the other rotting, only a gaping eyesocket and exposed bone as dead, scraggly hair clings to the remnants of her body...!
The blood on the walls also moves forward, towards Battler, as Mary suddenly shrieks.
What is Yachi going to do? ]
no subject
She sees somebody in trouble, somebody about to be hurt in front of her and she's moving before she knows what she's going to do, slapping down hard on Battler's wrist to send the cup to the floor. The candle drops, the light goes out, she shoves him hard, to the floor—she hears a worrying thunk on his way down, but she'll take him bumped over brutalized, any day—
And a tarp straight out of any shed flutters down over him, protecting Battler from those hooks.
Her voice screams out in the dark.]
Rosa—!
no subject
She shoves it open, then clears out enough to give them a passage out... or at least tries to.]

CALLY ROLL: 2 (NEAR-CRITFAIL)
The Candle drops and goes out, There's a loud thunk as Yachi shoves Battler out of the way - and through all of this, Mary goes silent, completely confused by her prey suddenly vanishing due to a tarp of all things.
Yet, the final step to to desummon Mary was not taken - the dark is still her domain, and Rosa opening the door and standing, however briefly in the darkness, IS A PERFECT TARGET...!
SUCCEED TO SURVIVE AGAINST ATTACK: 10 OR HIGHER
CALLY ROLL: 5
One of those whiplike hands lash out -
and Rosa might feel a pain in her throat, as blood begins to drip onto the front of her chest.
Her blood.
Mary has just slit her throat.
And with the toll paid, Mary cackles and vanishes back into the mirror...]
no subject
A gross feeling of wetness.
A heavy stain on her clothes...
And then her strength disappears and she starts to fall forward, hands around her neck.]
Aaackucghkublughgghghhhh... ghh...
no subject
[The tarp is gone and Hitoka is left, scrambling forth on hands and knees to the door, tearing her shirt off over her head as she skids to Rosa, bunching up the cloth and moving it to staunch the blood flow.
She screams again, louder, desperate, left in her camisole and shaking like a leaf, applying pressure—]
WE NEED A HEALER!! NOW!
no subject
She immediately dashes to Rosa's side - she doesn't have the range from before, but--]
Heal!
[Desperation creeps into her voice, and if it doesn't look like it's enough, she casts it again, and again...]
no subject
But there's that big gash in the front of her throat. That's too big to have a band-aid slapped on it and then walked off. It's red, and oozing and right along her neck]
no subject
Dammit... what did you guys do?
no subject
[She sucks in a hitching breath.]
R-Rosa go-got the door open. She saved us.
no subject
Rosa might remember it but more than that she's staring, eyes in glassy but in aware horror as she sees Romani hovering over her, what he's bringing to her throat...
Then, the pain of it entering her skin...]
no subject
[Her voice is raised for once as she looks over at Yachi.]
no subject
[She stands on unsteady legs, leaving her bloody shirt behind on the floor, to hit the lights and get a better look at poor battler.]
no subject
Looks like the hit knocked him out and tore open a minor gash on his scalp.]
no subject
[ yes, romani actually sounds frustrated at yachi, looking up from treating rosa to a point where she isn’t exactly bleeding to death. with the veins ligated, he’ll be stitching up the gash. ]
Marona, I know it’s too much to ask, but please heal Battler if you can.
