The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?

But it's there, along with the end of the week.

Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.


Well.

Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.

So what are you doing these next two days?

Of course it is. Even if they're not openly mean or anything, I'm not under any illusions about how much people like me.

[ except for Jade, and he works very hard on maintaining that illusion ]

...No, it is, and it's usually fine because I have the only friend I need already.

[ Never mind that that friend had treated him worse than most of his perceived enemies ever had-- ]

But you saw what some of them were considering today -- the possibility of executing someone who hadn't done anything wrong at all.

Oh, stop saying it's all right! It's even worse if you don't realize it's not right!

I know... that was wrong. We can't let them do that... ever.

[ There's a brief hesitation after that, as he's reminded of defending Jade and his friendship with him to Giovanni last weekend... but this isn't about Jade, so it's fine. ]

It's not like I like them either!!

[ and TO BE FAIR he has terrorized perfectly nice people who actually were trying to be his friends because of some paranoid jealousy, though he's still convinced he was right about that ]

If someone eventually kills more than one person, though, even if it's yet another stupid accident, it's going to happen. It's going to come down to keeping the ones who are useful and the ones who are likable, and I only have a shot at one of those things.

[And the script is being flipped yet again as he provokes one of the more sobering thoughts from Rosa.]

We kill the people who kill. We keep the people who don't. End of story. No compromise. No excuse... so just don't kill anyone, got it, Doctor? Then, no problem.

Of course not, I'm not stupid enough to risk something like that. Unfortunately I can't guarantee the same for everyone else.
