The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?

But it's there, along with the end of the week.

Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.


Well.

Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.

So what are you doing these next two days?

The supply of fools is a finite one, as you said. [ Maybe a bit bluntly spoken but this is how their conversations seem to go, so it might not be that odd. ]

I wouldn't call it concern, personally. I'm just interested in making it out of this mansion alive with as many teammates as possible, and it would be a lie to call all our contributions equal.

[ An amused sound escaped him at that. It's been relatively too soon since the trial for him to show too much humor, but that gained a bit of it.

He seemed to appreciate the blunt nature of the male at the moment as well. Then again, there's a lot of honesty to be had in such a nature. ]

You are not wrong to presume such things at all. After all, it's to be expected that things have happened as such. We cannot anticipate every mongrel here will pull their own weight adequately.

These clothes weren't going to clean themselves!! ]

It's too early to tell, I suppose. But if the ghosts were going to choose someone who's likely to make an impact, it could be that woman. Still, they would likely still skip over the Reaper as a choice.

Would there even be a difference with him? [ Shaking his head. ] She was still soft in the end, though. I agree she would be impactful, but the miasma might not be able to utilize her well.

Hmph. Not if they chose him now.

[ Gilgamesh could easily imagine what kind of silly antics the Reaper would get up to and probably annoy the curse itself. Later on that may not be a possibility, though. Sadly ]

Perhaps you may be correct. She didn't seem like the type who'd immediately bend to cruelty, though with her spirit being together with the creature, it's only a matter of time before that quality erodes.

I believe it's well past the time to expect for things to happen as we would like. Though, of course, it's far too early for any of us to give into this creature completely.

[ Gilgamesh couldn't imagine but a further degradation of those who merged with the curse and whatever resistance they're capable of will fall sooner than later. ]

And seeing what we can do in our situation before we're able to come together with a plan. If we have any high expectations right now, some foolishness would undoubtedly occur to subvert them.

[ It truly was a pity that the vessel made an example that it was something that couldn't be used in trial. Perhaps if they had been more sneaky about it... but what's done is done.

...And though as a King I would hardly give the time of day with many mongrels, it shouldn't come as a surprise that you'll eventually require my superior abilities in a future situation. Nevertheless do not expect myself to lend my aid in trivial matters should you call for it.
