nobody's in the mood for recording 6.9: the post-trial garden tea "party"

The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?

But it's there, along with the end of the week.

Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.

    Well.

Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.

So what are you doing these next two days?

The fog could have been an unrelated incident, but ignoring the possibility that they're related is foolish. [Yes, he's talking about Dazai.] Perhaps we should be cautious where that's voiced. I can imagine the idea just hasn't occurred to someone yet. [Also a jab at somebody's intelligence.]

I just did what came naturally. I've been questioned on what I would have done, had I killed Sho Minamimoto instead of letting him be executed. I'm rather less approachable then you are, so I imagine you're more of a focus than I am.

...But you didn't. [She shrugs] Of course we would've been mad if he had died, then.

You mean I'm more easily bullied? Well, you're not wrong, there.

Would you have been mad as well, even if it was in protection of your life? You seem more pragmatic than that. [You would expect Gin to sound more concerned, considering this was edging into his hypothetical lynching, but if two people could talk about that right now, it would be these two.]

The gun is a bit much, but Shinsou still seems to speak louder here.

...Executing the innocent would set a very bad precedent.

[Her voice was calm to the point of being cold.]

--Sorry, Shinsou? Is that someone here?

....My. Truly, pragmatic is a good word for you.

[One hand leaves his teacup to tap at the wakizashi sitting on the table.] This is Shinsou.

I've told a few people, but... I'm in the business of staying alive a little longer. When you have no choice in what you do, pragmatic or not-pragmatic are the same thing, aren't they?

[She peers, before realizing it's the sword.]

Ah. So it is.
