nobody's in the mood for recording 6.9: the post-trial garden tea "party"

- The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?
But it's there, along with the end of the week.
Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.
Well.
Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.
So what are you doing these next two days?

...But the heat of his gaze lessened. The Doctor had to cut someone open, so, he'll be lenient. As long as later on Romani did what he wanted him to do, he reasoned.
... ]
...I originally came by to have the usual chat, after that accursed trial. Though it isn't like I've only an invested interest in simply discussing that nonsense, even if I will permit that as an option.
[ As usual, he couldn't say something that he was concerned enough to check up on people he cared about or any such things like valuing someone's presence. Though, he supposed he could phrase it as a 'king checking up on his subjects', something about that seemed too informal for his liking right now. ]

[ funny enough, he doesn't want to discuss the trial. he'd rather think of anything else, actually, whatever doesn't have to do with a man's horrifying last moments and yuri, who had to hold that secret in her heart for far too long and have her die the same way.
it would have been easier if she had meant to kill jack in the first place. if it hadn't been an accident.
it doesn't matter. maybe she'll come back and curse him. or maybe not--that'd be more painful, actually. ]
Thank you for your help, though. We wouldn't have figured it out without you.

[ What with there now being the addition of two ghosts amongst the creature's numbers. Already Gilgamesh had fast-forwarded mostly past how unfortunate the trial and death were, and was thinking of the ramifications. Of how many more enemies they would have to contend with in the event of them attempting to execute a solid plan...
Someone had to be thinking of that, after all. And who else was more worthy of that than the King? ]
Naturally. Though it was beneath me to act simply go around hounding those traces of magic like a dog, no one was in a better position to do it than I was.
[ Or well, Rin could've, but shh. ]
...Of course, what allowed me to make some of the conclusions that were instrumental in help solving it were partially the results of your efforts as well.

[ well that is...unexpected praise. roman hadn't even begun to think about how the seed that he had taken out of jack's stomach had been of any use for the trial, even if it was one of the things that had gotten yuri caught.
....
and yet he can't even see that as a victory. if anything, it just felt like a punch to the gut or a burn in his arm. with a sigh, they make their way to the top bunk where he sleeps, sitting down, leaning against the wall. ]
For some reason, it's hard to feel like I did something good. But I doubt it'll feel any better when it happens again. [ not if. when. with everything that happened, it was only a matter of time before someone else died, whether as an accident or on purpose. ]

[ If the Doctor's assistance in this case had been brought on in a way that didn't give such a grave reminder, he'd have possibly go on about it. But the fact was, it wasn't, and thus only needed a simple acknowledgment.
...Honestly, though, Gilgamesh had thought of the another trial and such more as a 'when' as well. He had, at the beginning, been assuming that people killing each other was such an inevitability, though not exactly from the accident angle until it very well happened. Even the first had been an accidental murder. ]
Perhaps if some of these mongrels could remember to pay attention to what they were doing in the first place or remember what kind of environment we're in, we wouldn't have to consider the eventuality of another accidental murder.
Though, I suppose even so, it wouldn't rule out some fool taking action for some banal reason eventually.

but he also knew that gilgamesh was right. this was caused by her naive idea that this house would actually give them something good, instead of trying to trap them at every corner.
but still... ]
It’s probably a matter of time before someone does it on purpose. You even saw today with Rosa pulling out her gun like that... it’s only a matter of time before someone goes and does it, you know?
[ and that makes him feel so, so afraid. that he could be on the receiving end of someone’s sword or knife or gun—and that he’ll die. that his body could be discovered next week or the week after that...
but he won’t tell gilgamesh that. ]
...You should stay safe.

Yet...
To him, it made him want to laugh. How many times has he felt such an emotion in a situation like this? So he'll let out a low, dark chuckle, stepping closer to Romani, with a smile on his lips that certainly didn't fit their predicament. ]
Tell me, Doctor:
You do remember who I am? I am King Gilgamesh, King of Heroes, and there is no other who could boast such a claim. Keep in mind I am not so foolish enough to allow myself to fall to some lowly mongrel's gun or blade or whatever devices they may have so easily. You do understand that, do you?
[ He'll reach out fingers reaching to touch his cheek. He didn't even think twice, he just did it.
Gilgamesh didn't think of the feeling that ran through him when all three of them were seemingly cornered in the room by a killer robot. Nor did he think of the feeling that came when he and the others were forced to face a 'bomb' down and what the possible outcome may be.
He would never show Romani any weakness, even when his own life was uncertain. The man had placed his trust in him, and he was his King. His. ]
It'll be you who will need that caution more than I. Of course, I also don't intend to act so foolish that it will damage my credibility, or even yours. Therefore, at this time your worry is not needed on my part. All you have to do is trust in your Great King.

[ the king’s response is both expected and not. the grand, arrogant words were not new at all, and they have the same confidence that the doctor had always known about. it was not false confidence either—roman knew that gilgamesh believed these words from the bottom of his heart.
and yet—
and yet—!
the way that the king touched his cheek made his heart skip a beat—made it ache with complicated feelings that he did not want to have but that were too late to deny. this was bad. this was bad, bad, bad and part of him wanted to shrink away and run because...he doesn’t feel—no, he knows he’s not allowed this. he doesn’t deserve this.
but he leans into the king’s hand anyway, drawing in a shuddering breath. settle down, he tells himself. even if roman knows that he doesn’t deserve this, he wants to at least pretend like he does for a short while. ]
I believe you, King Gilgamesh. I really do.

Seeing the Doctor so receptive to this drowned out thoughts of reason. Why wouldn't it? He had fingers moving slightly to caress the man's cheek, as his red eyes watched him intently, a smile still on his lips that may appear unrepentant, yet somehow charming in a way. ]
As you should, as I will not tolerate you having any doubt in me.
[ He'll move the hand to then rest against Romani's right side, leaning a bit forwards. ]
Together, we will see victory. I will not allow our total defeat to come so easily, and I expect the same of you...who I will require to continue being by my side, and doing what you can to assist everyone here.
