The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?

But it's there, along with the end of the week.

Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.

Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.

[Honestly yeah, this week was rougher for a lot more of them. At least last week they could write Sho off as just an asshole especially after the bomb thing, but... well. It wasn't so easy this time, so distractions are the way to go here, apparently.

Huh. They do say that everyone in the world has a twin somewhere. [but does that count when they're from multiple worlds, who knows--]

Is he a friend, or family, or...?

[ Flayn hesitates. That's a loaded question, considering her burgeoning crush on Dimitri got trampled by him going feral warlord on everyone's asses. ]

He is the King of Faerghus, the Holy Kingdom that my church has aligned ourselves with during a terrible war. I fight for him when I am requested.

We...also attended school together when we were a bit younger. So we are former classmates as well. He is a dear friend of mine, but the war has changed him so very much.

I see. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that.

[War isn't something he's experienced personally, but the condolences are sincere enough--after all, there's a certain degree of common sense associated with how horrible war could be. But the idea of people changing over time is definitely more relatable.]

What was he like before the war started, if you don't mind me asking?

[ Flayn smiles thinly. The war was difficult, but it didn't match the one she fought in her youth in terms of emotional distress wrought. Nothing could. ]

He was a bright, kindhearted young man with knightly ideals, who tended to be an overachiever and often did not know how to have fun. I am not sure if he was even capable of telling a joke.

[ a light laugh, one at the expense of dimitri's sense of humor ]

But he fought many battles by himself, inside of his heart, every single day. The war pushed him down a path of fighting those battles I am often afraid he will not return from.

He sounds like your classic honor roll student. It makes sense though, if he was royalty.

[Being part of the monarchy was Serious Business, so no wonder he was probably raised with a stick up his butt. Or something.]

A bit of both.

He speaks of the dead telling him to kill. To take revenge for him. His parents, his dearest friend who was killed guarding him, and others I do not recognize...I knew not of it at the time, but this had been plaguing him for some time even before the war began.

The Church joined forces with the Kingdom for the purpose of defeating the Emperor of Adrestia, who started the war, but--he has marched us, his army, into near death-traps all for his goal of killing the her, because he believes taking her head will quiet the voices of the dead.
