nobody's in the mood for recording 6.9: the post-trial garden tea "party"

The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?

But it's there, along with the end of the week.

Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.

    Well.

Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.

So what are you doing these next two days?

[Ango honestly isn't expecting apologies from anyone, so when Emil speaks up, he looks a little confused.]

For what?

What do you mean for what?!

[Emil raises his voice, and facepalms when he realizes that. Ugh, control your volume, Emil, don't start shouting at him again]

For the trial. I shouldn't have shouted at you like I did.

[That just confuses him further, honestly.]

Why are you sorry for that? Your feelings were valid.

Yes, but maybe I shouldn't have treated you like you suggested we burn the house down from the inside.

[Valid or not, weeeeell...Rosa had valid points too, but look at the way she got treated. If people aren't careful when saying things, no matter how valid they are, they'll end being treated the same.

Emil can see that much, and he doesn't want to end like that.]

[Rosa may have had valid points, but she is also on Ango's shit list for how she treated Yuri.]

Mmm, well. Apology accepted, then.

[It might say something about how Ango is usually treated that he didn't see any of the people yelling at him as anything out of the ordinary.]

[That's pretty depressing, Ango]

Besides, I'm sure we won't be in a situation like that one again.

[...he hopes. Is it bad to be optimistic baselessly? Most likely. But hey, better this than saying 'next week we'll be back to square one', so he figures that's the right thing to say, leaving aside whether he believes it or not]

[Honestly? Ango wants to hope too.]

Hopefully we won't be. If we're diligent, we can prevent accidents from happening.

So far it shouldn't be too difficult. Don't make art using other agents as material. Don't summon demons. So far the accidents were actions that could go wrong in so many ways!

[in two weeks emil accidentally sets someone on fire and has to eat crow peppered with the words he used to very subtly -- and very badly -- diss sho and yuri]

[Whoops. Better be careful about that, Emil.]

They are, yes. So I suppose keeping track of each other would be the best way to keep more accidents from happening. Dumb ideas can be countered with "no really, don't."

Surely we can't be that dumb, right?

[Those words will echo back to him during the next meeting, in which he will conclude that yes, some people are that dumb. Not that Emil is the epitome of intelligence and foresight]

[personal profile] notbymyside 2020-05-01 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't even answer that verbally. Emil just gets a stare.

Yes. People are that dumb.

...that's not a no, Ango.

[Complete silence is worse than an outright 'yes', he thinks]

...you hang onto that faith in people, Emil-kun. It will serve you well.

Every time someone says something like that it's never true.

[It's the joys of being young, really, not being a cynical person]

That's part of growing up, unfortunately. You get more jaded and trust people less.

...you can't be that old. You talk like an old man.

[All that talk of not trusting people much makes Ango sound like he's sixty, he thinks]

I believe the word you're looking for is 'jaded'.
