The flowers that bloomed at the end of the trial are ones that only seem to prove, continuously, that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Of course, it's only natural that many of the people are full of mixed emotions - grief? sadness? anger? frustration? maybe something else completely different?

But it's there, along with the end of the week.

Miasma still continues to be around, of course - but make use of the fact that this might be the last time it'll be at a low level one before it shoots up again.


Well.

Life continues as usual, disregarding any feelings that any of the house's occupants might be feeling.

[ Giovanni pauses mid-tupperware. So much weird crap has gone on in such a short span of time today, it takes him a minute to remember what Saphir's talking about. ]

Oh, the brain battle! Yeah, I'm still up for it if you are. Take our minds off... other stuff, right? Just, uh... I've totally done them before, but maybe you could refresh my memory on how these things usually work?

...I'm pretty sure you completely made up that term yourself, actually, and I can't tell you what was going through your head when you said it.

[ But a distraction doesn't sound terrible, so he'll try to work with it. ]

Are we thinking some sort of trivia contest or something? Logic puzzles? I'm not sure who we would want in charge of coming up with questions...

[ Giovanni completely ignores this very valid first point. ]

Huh... I dunno if trivia would work, since the answers might be different in different worlds, you know? But I could totally out-logic you! To DEATH!! Or... to losing. One of those.

Okay, who's the smartest person here who's not me or you? Or Matrix, because he'd just ask math stuff.

Hey!! Even if he is a ghost, he's still been really nice to me! Except when he smacked me with a ghost towel in the sauna, but I'm pretty sure that was like a fun bro thing!

[ HE WAS A LOT LESS FUN WITH THE CAMERAS IN THE ARMORY...

He's tempted to ask why he has to be the one to ask when this "battle" wasn't his stupid idea in the first place, but whatever... might as well let him finish storing this weird soup. ]

All right, he's in.

[ and for the sake of not bogging maple down in dumb games from the weekend we will handwave most of this!! ]

[ All right, out of the goodness of his heart and also probably out of not wanting to get badgered by petty feuders for the rest of the weekend, Ango has generously provided them a few logic puzzles to work on. Giovanni taps his pencil against the first grid, contemplating for a minute or two before his brain starts to overheat. ]

Ugh, if the person in the red house owns either a cat or a bird, but doesn't live next to the person in the blue house - this is stupid! I don't care about any of these people or their pets!! When do we get to do, like, an obstacle course?!

[ Saphir is quietly working through the puzzles without much trouble, though he's not exactly blowing through all of them either; he may be (and is!!!) a genius, but these aren't the kinds of problems he ever has to think about.

At that outburst, he looks up from his own paper in annoyance. ]

Are you serious?? That would be a completely different competition! It's not like it takes much intelligence to jump over a hurdle.

[ It takes athleticism. Which he does not have. ]

You're just scared 'cause you'd lose!

[ I mean. This is probably true, but... ]

I'm not scared, but yes, I would almost certainly lose a contest of physical ability.

[ He knows his strengths and he knows that is absolutely not one of them. ]

Just like you're going to lose this one.

Ughhh!

[ Giovanni, unable to refute this, sets about angrily scrawling answers on his paper. Eventually, he reveals several grids that appear to have been filled in at near-complete random, as well as a crude drawing of himself sticking out his tongue at an equally crude drawing of Saphir in the margins. ]

So? What do I win? There's cash prizes, right?
