thefoundation | RECORDING 4: THE SECOND WEEK

A second week in this place begins, with less of your number among you. With first blood - and oil - spilled, it now seems as if it'll only be a matter of time before the worse eventually happens once more. Thankfully, it seems as if the Miasma is content to remain at the same levels it did before, so arguments are unlikely to break out, though tensions are surely high after everything that's already occurred.

Speaking of which, the temperature remains a consistent comfortable early to mid 70's in the house. It appears at least that you'll be here in comfort..? Though it appears that the rooms have changed, so hopefully you kept anything essential in the static area.

Yet, something feels...wrong. The house feels as if it is laughing at you, when you awake...

...What new horrors await you this week?

Hey, did any of you know Olympia could fire beams from her eye? Well, you do now.

A few fragments of bandana flutter to the ground. She ignores them.]

[ Wow, yup. Tears. Giovanni looks from the floating scraps to Olympia's laser-shooting face, though his vision is blurry. ]

Hey! I [ SNIFFLE ] worked really hard on that! Okay, not that hard, because it's kind of just a square, but it took me a while to get the BB pattern right...!

[ Lesson learned: give your minions their complimentary accessories before they die. ]

[can i just pull you back to this side of the false-safety line?]

I thought Death Seeking was my job, boss.

[ !!! someone actually called him boss... would be his reaction, if his heart was anywhere in this mortal realm at the moment and not lying destroyed on the floor in front of him. ]

No, that's not how it works! I can't let you put yourself in danger [ SNIFF ] f- for me! What kind of boss would I be if... if I didn't protect my minions...

[ He doesn't resist Dazai dragging him back, though. He's gone limp. ]

There are still minions alive to protect, aren't there?

[sorry not sorry Vessel Olympia is a lost cause]

[ That does strike a chord, and Giovanni finally makes a move of his own volition, lifting a hand to scrub the tears out of his eyes. Not that it does too much, since more keep bubbling up to take their place, but he's trying, okay? ]

Obviously! Who said I'm not gonna?! I'll protect you, and everyone here - I swear on my honor as a Banzai Captain! No one else is going to die!

[flicking him in the forehead]

In that case, be sure to look after yourself first.

... if you die here, you'll end up in their positions.

[he looks back to Sho and Olympia as he says it. basically, you'll just cause your still-living minions pain.]

[waves with a horrible claw!]

Ow!

[ That didn't hurt, you big baby. ]

You don't have to tell me that, Deathseeker! I'm not dying here, or anywhere! I'm not gonna let some dumb ghosts or robot ghosts get me down! I'm GIOVANNI POTAGE!

[ And that explains everything, doesn't it? ]

[there we go. less despair, more... whatever you're doing.]

I'M GIOVANNI POTAGE!!!!

[ Hell yeah he is. Giovanni throws his head back and proclaims it to the world, or at least to the living room. Possibly unconsciously, a delicious steamy aura begins to bubble up around him. ]

[... is this the usual soup thing??]

[ Well, it's a soup thing. A soup thing with Purpose and Determination!! But yeah, it's just soup steam. Any that touches Dazai will probably dissipate. ]

Keep him away, Dazai-san.

[Just nodding his approval here. Then to Gio:]

Don't read too much into this. She's not herself anymore.

I... I knew she was a ghost now... or, I guess, a ghost robot. I thought she might s- say no...

[ An especially loud sniffle as he turns to Haku, eyes still brimming. ]

I just didn't think it would hurt so bad.

[ Just another reminder that he's failed. ]

[This is a pretty bad time to be getting distracted, but all the same Haku gently puts his hand on Gio's shoulder. It's not much by way of comfort, but it's something... maybe.]

Let out all your tears if you must. But know that you are stronger than any pain this creature can inflict.

[ One of Giovanni's hands finds its way over Haku's and grips, tightly. His pink-painted nails dig into his own shoulder, but he doesn't seem to feel it. ]

You're so nice to me, Needles. But I gotta... I gotta be stronger. For all of you.

[He's a little surprised by that grip on his hand, but he gives Gio's shoulder a squeeze back.]

All those feelings you're carrying right now ... they'll be a good motivation for you to keep working towards your goals. You mustn't forget your feelings, nor should you let them demoralize you. Just keep going. I believe you can do it.

You know what? [ SNIFFLE ] You are so right. I'm only feeling this way because things have been so absolutely freakin' terrible. But that just means I need to make sure nothing like the past few days ever happens again! Because I'm your Captain, damn it!

[ He's still crying, but there's a determination in his voice now, if you can hear it through the tears. ]

[That determination is loud and clear, alright. Haku grins, stepping back to give Gio more space.]

But with all that said. Promise that you won't go looking for trouble?

Looking for trouble?! Giovanni Potage makes his own trouble! ...But yeah, I promise.

[ He shoots Haku a weak smile. ]
