Opinions without 3.1415 are just Onions (Week1 post trial)
After everything, the house seems almost too still and too mundane. At least as long as the doors to that room remain closed. One by one those covered in what was once their teammate are lead to the showers or change in silence. There is no warm meal waiting for them. No words of encouragement.
Life goes on, regardless.
Life goes on, regardless.
room 1;
Anyway, after Gilgamesh had taken care of his shoes, he 'barged' into his room. Though, it was more like just walking in, really. ]
Hmph...preparing yourself for another long night already?
[ Having caught of the other man making his trips to grab some coffee beforehand as he was doing some personal business made him reach such a clear conclusion. He sure also noticed that he had that notebook of his as well, and though there were also other things at trial to address, this was the first comment of the night. ]

[ partially because he has the images of today's trial and execution burned into his brain, partially because he feels that if he sleeps, then he is losing precious time. time to study possibilities, times to look for strategies, time to save as many people as possible--
he closes his notebook, taking a sip of the too hot coffee. ]
Did you manage to get your shoes cleaned?

[ Pointedly; it's fine foregoing a few hours of sleep but more than that would be excessive. He had no intentions of lying down easily himself either; he will be thinking of some more ideas himself.
Things were undoubtedly to be more difficult now, however. What Sho did had shaken everyone. ]
I did. Managing such a thing would be simple, even though it's not something I'd have traditionally dealt with myself. [ Either way he hardly cared too much about it now. ] You seemed to have cleaned up well yourself. But, that aside, I'd considered the possibility that we'd have at least a little more time before someone inevitably gave in. But, it seemed that someone's foolishness and despair easily gave way to the most likely conclusion sooner than later.
[ He remembered those words, when that mongrel had spoke, "You guys can't feel it. But I can. No one is getting out of here..."
And he frowned, somehow even looked more displeased when he had a moment ago. How could he not have? The King had thought of something severely unpleasant in the midst of all that, and he had this feeling that, in the ether, no one else would call him out on it if he didn't. ]
However, I also anticipate you won't do a repeat of what you did during that mockery of a trial in a fit of desperation. That's hardly what I would call a good distraction, if that was even your intention.

no one is getting out of here.
romani gives the king a sad smile, playing with the pen in his fingers. ]
I have no idea what came over me at that moment. It was as if my mind had gone blank. It was different than anything before but I guess I'm not used to facing danger while sitting behind a monitor.
[ he looks up at the ceiling, closing his eyes and sighing. ] But in the end, I'm still powerless, aren't I?

Anyway, Gilgamesh hoped it'd be a lesson of sorts for the Doctor to stay where he needed to be. Behind
in the kitchenthe other combatants, in case they needed someone like him to tend to, or for other things the man could handle.Though, right then and there Romani had just said something to him that sounded unacceptable. In a way, he was glad to hear that was what the other thought, because it meant he could deal with it in his own way (which...may or may not be great.) ]
You...
[ He'll reach over, hand aiming to try to scruff him by the collar, enough to force him to his feet as he was sitting due to having writing in the notebook. ]
Tell me, who was the one that set up the meeting this week?! Who was the one who sacrificed his sleep to watch over that mongrel and that other fool so that they can be well? Are you going to go ahead and tell me some other imbecile went ahead and did that? I invite you to try my patience further if you dare to go ahead with such insolence!
You are useless and powerless when you throw yourself stupidly and impotently into the battlefield where you don't belong! Know your place and apply yourself only where your talents lie if you don't want to be a hindrance! It's as simple as that. And even so, I refuse to let you wallow in your self-pity like it's all over because some worthless IDIOT decided to force our hands by the end of the week due to his ill-conceived actions.
In times like these, you remember what you've done, and your place in all of this! It hasn't been for nothing!
[ And then around this time, he's letting go of his collar. ]

[ that is definitely more than enough force to pull romani to his feet. he scrambles to keep himself upright, using gilgamesh's own arm as support.
the position he's in is far from comfortable, and the king's anger is practically palpable and making the tension in the air thick enough to cut with a knife, but he listens. and oh how he listens. he does so as the servant yells at him, telling him not what he wanted to hear, but what he needed to hear.
yes, he's powerless in battle. he cannot fight the way that gin, or gilgamesh, or many of the people here could. that much is certain and he is aware of it. but that...doesn't mean that he's entirely useless. not yet, at least.
as long as the team could stay together, then perhaps...perhaps there could still be a chance.
roman stumbles back when he's let go, drawing a shuddering breath as he tries to settle his thoughts and emotions. part of him wants to freak out, to collapse in on himself...but he knows that won't be possible. he can't let that sort of thing happen. for his sake, and for everyone's sake. ]
You're right. You're right. We have to...we have to keep fighting, somehow. But I have a feeling that this is going to continue, King Gilgamesh-- you heard what Sho Minamimoto said. This thing will try to take us all down like predators hunting its prey. But I'll fight until the end, whether's it's my death or until we escape.
[ because he's certain that help will not come from the outside.
his legs are still shaking, but he puts on the best brave face that he can to speak up. ]
This might be too much to ask, but...in the case that I die here, please keep the team together as best as possible. That's all. Laugh at me if you'd like, but this is all I ask.
no subject
And that was something he could never abide. ]
As you should, Doctor. I expect nothing less than you to fight until the end.
[ Gilgamesh crossed his arms, listening to his plea as the other stood with those shaky legs of his. He allowed his expression to settle into a deep frown, looking like he swallowed something unpleasant. Despite how he's made such progress in his life, there were some parts of him that wouldn't change.
That said, in a normal situation the request would've made him laugh, and part of him felt it. Instead, it made his scowl remain and feelings of ire bubble up within. It was a good, reasonable request to make, but still it somehow felt an affront, and he decided immediately it was because of how it was audacious to make it of him, as a King. It was nothing else. ]
If for some reason you fail miserably to meet my expectations and die an ignoble death like a pitiful fool, then of course I will increase my efforts to remind those mongrels of their place and keep them in line. And even so, It's only to be expected that I exert my rightful position over them.
And do not dare think of my saying as much as proof of accepting your ridiculous, impertinent "request". It is simply the natural course of action that I would take in such a situation, nothing more, nothing less.

[ he laughs shakily at gilgamesh's response, more out of nervousness than anything else. of course the king would take it like that, huh? well, it's not like roman minds that much anyways. he supposes that he already made the man angry due to his incompetence.
but he appreciates the answer anyways--it's not a no, after all. if anything, it seems to be the king's long-winded way of saying "yes, but i won't do it for your sake." and that was good enough for the doctor, at least. ]
I'm not trying to seek out death, either. Though I guess some people may be getting that idea after today.
[ or they'll think he's an idiot. either one is fine. ]
Thank you. Really. It probably would have taken me much longer for me to realize this. [ even if it did need more force than he would have liked, but he can't really expect less from gilgamesh. ]
no subject
Ironically enough, Gilgamesh never thought the other was going that far in his own desperate actions, but somehow hearing the red head say he wasn't made him feel bet—
...
He pushed aside such thoughts almost immediately as soon as he questioned them, unwilling to give them the time of day. ]
I'd hardly be surprised, given the idiotic display you've made. Doubtless you've made some of those fools develop a concern for your health.
[ Consider those words of King Gilgamesh vocalizing a huff or something close to it. Though, for once, he was going to acknowledge the Doctor's expression of gratitude, seeming to find value in doing so. In his...typical way. ]
...Hmph, there's hardly any need to thank me for having the right amount of sense, and to make you see it swiftly than any other could've hoped to. Though, if you're ever feeling so foolish again, I permit and command you to immediately seek myself out even if you're in such a pitiful state. It should be simple for a King like myself to put you in your place once more.

actually gets a laugh out of him. well, more like a snicker if anything. but he does have to cover his face with one hand, leaning back against the frame of the bunk bed in a somewhat more relaxed manner.
it's hard to feel relaxed in this place, and being next to the king of heroes shouldn't make it any easier, but somehow it does. ]
Understood, understood. Thank you for that. [ he nods, lowering his hand to give gilgamesh a smile. ]
You probably already know this, but if there's any way that I can be useful for you too then I'll be glad to help.
no subject
Nevertheless he was now a little pleased. Though that's not going to last long in a situation like this. ]
For now just simply keep doing what you've been doing, Doctor. The others have doubtlessly found comfort in your own efforts.
If I require your services or your presence for the obvious, you will know.
[ Suffice to say, he was already sure he planned on seeking out the other next week for the same reason as last time. ]
