RECORDING 3: THE FIRST TRIAL

The worst has happened... and now you're all here, in the living room where you first met Todd. As all of you enter, the Vessel is there - glowering at all of you, still missing the arm Dazai shorn from him with his touch.

On one of the tables away from the center is a small enclosed box entitled 'VOTES', with slips of paper nearby and a pen. It's sufficiently away from what will be the 'main' action, but not enough to really give anyone complete privacy as they vote.

Once everyone is inside, the doors automatically shut and lock themselves, leaving you trapped in here with the Vessel...and each other.

One of you is a murderer...however, in this game, the guilty do not need to be voted out. As long as there are enough people voted out that matches the victims...then it will be accepted.

...But, can you really let someone get away with murder...?

The choice...is up to you.

VICTIM: OLYMPIA
PEOPLE TO VOTE OUT: 1

WEEK 1 VOTING

One and done. It's not perfect, but better than nothin'.
zweivoltage: (What is this...?)

[personal profile] zweivoltage 2020-04-18 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Old trick...?

[Nothing here! Unless the smell of rummaging for quite some time in the tool room days ago transferred to him, but it's likely to be traces anyway]

Why would you purposely dirty your own clothes unless you were trying to distract us from other things, Sho?
tangentlion: (confident lion)

[personal profile] tangentlion 2020-04-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you zeroes really think of me. I'm not blind.
golden_dream: (Dir)

[personal profile] golden_dream 2020-04-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
...Don't look at me. I made clothes for the party, but that was it.
eyeforai: (aweless incredulity)

[personal profile] eyeforai 2020-04-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? Did you just have it out for everyone last night?
ghostricked: (Away away)

[personal profile] ghostricked 2020-04-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No...
accrowed: (♦ when you're awake)

[personal profile] accrowed 2020-04-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No worries. I doubt you're the only person here trying to keep things private, so I'll leave it at that. Just promise me something.

After this is over, make sure you get someone to check you over and watch your symptoms. That way no one can accuse you of this again.

At this point, there's not much pointing to anyone else, is there?
white_camellia: (Normal Hairflip)

[personal profile] white_camellia 2020-04-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It would, yes. The Foundation does have a way to counter it, but that will only last so long. Or rather, I only have one or two more uses of it remaining, so I've been trying to minimize using it until I truly need it.

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2020-04-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You're certainly someone who thinks he is, Amateur-san.
tangentlion: (ATTENTION ALL TASTELESS TETRAHEDRA!)

[personal profile] tangentlion 2020-04-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I've done it since I was in my early double digits. Industrial chic is hella aesthetic.
golden_dream: (Stupefaction)

[personal profile] golden_dream 2020-04-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
How do we know you haven't already used it? Can you prove that?
tangentlion: (CRUNCH! I'll add it to the heap.)

[personal profile] tangentlion 2020-04-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Affirmative.
tangentlion: (you factoring sons of DIGITS!)

[personal profile] tangentlion 2020-04-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You shut your mouth before I shut it for you.
cw_suicide: (141)

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2020-04-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that tactic very well, in fact.

As I said, he hasn't changed from being our lead suspect. And I'm hardly acting as lead. I'm just doing what I can for the situation. How about you, kitsune-san?
tangentlion: (heh!)

[personal profile] tangentlion 2020-04-18 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It'll vanish after it's used. You only have my word to go on, though....
white_camellia: (Normal Joy)

[personal profile] white_camellia 2020-04-18 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I simply believe that it is a mistake to trust someone like me.
finalring: (pic#13912300)

[personal profile] finalring 2020-04-18 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
As I thought. In other words, even if you used the heal today to hide the wounds, that would still be counterproductive in the long run. You'd want to save it as for as long as possible
cw_suicide: (369)

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2020-04-18 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That wouldn't be very smart of you, admittedly.
reanimania: (hang on let me stop being a bitch first)

[personal profile] reanimania 2020-04-18 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The barrier artes I'm familiar with require an incantation and generally take some time, but that doesn't necessarily seem to be the case with the ones used here. It seems like they could have activated it instantaneously just in time to avoid the oil splatter or something, but not had it up the entire time.
boardreversal: (Let me explain you a thing)

[personal profile] boardreversal 2020-04-18 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You see it all the time in mystery novels - 'Someone overly suspicious'. It can be a trap depending on how familiar you are with the genre, or read a lot of them in general. A first time reader would say that they're clearly guilty of whatever they're suspected of, because they haven't had enough experience to see other tricks in other stories.

But an experienced reader could potentially overthink it, and then go 'he's too suspicious, there's no way it's him.'

...Of course, that's just for mystery novels. But...We've got a lot of people experienced in investigation, right?
golden_dream: (The great detective knows)

[personal profile] golden_dream 2020-04-18 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, untestable... unless you were to die, suddenly, then revive yourself, and we were able to observe the sigil vanishing.

But, here's a final question for you, Minamimoto-san.

What's to stop you from drawing as many of those sigils as you like?
eyeforai: (annoying intrusion)

[personal profile] eyeforai 2020-04-18 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...Did you at least use the sign up sheets?
