RECORDING 2: THE FIRST MURDER

An entire week has passed, and nothing has happened. For a brief glimmer of time, it seemed like they wouldn't succumb. That they would be able to face down the Vessel, the Curse, and come out stronger on the other side.

....But when they wake up today, it's easy to feel the wrongness in the air. The sense of satisfaction from something lurking deep inside, pleased that it was fed...and pleased that finally, the killing had started.

As you all rise and look towards a new day, the faint traces of Miasma lap at your heels...

...And around whatever corpse now lingers in the hallways...

I know. [She says, quietly.]

[They're so close in height, it's easy to tuck her face into the other woman's shoulder... so she does.

She lets out as much as she has in her at the moment, until she tires herself out on tragedy and the soft, sad cracking of the pointless, baseless hope that they were all going to come out of this okay.

She knows, in her bones, that something like this was bound to happen at least once, that something like this might happen to all of them. But she had to hope, all the same.

...but it still hurts, to have seen that firsthand.]
