Week 5, Friday

As evening falls, everyone settles in to relax and sleep. Many people are in the Blue room, including Saki. Interestingly enough, there is another guest as well in the form of Giriko who has been recently-Pooka-fied. All seems well in the sleepover, and nobody outside of a certain chainsaw even suspects that anything is about to happen.

Outside, near the garage, Giriko's former body suddenly gets up. It walks into the garage, looking for the chainsaw, only to find that it has gone missing. The body pauses, and is clearly trying to figure out what to do next. Then it leaves the garage, and it looks towards the house, but apparently decides against going there and heads towards the studio instead. Right by the door there is a large sledgehammer, which Giriko's former body picks up and hefts onto its shoulder. Then it heads into the studio itself.

About three minutes pass with nothing really happening outside. The cameras inside the studio are still busted, so nothing can be seen of the interior. But after approximately three minutes the door the the studio is flung open but Giriko's former body, which has apparently been yeeted out of it. The body goes skidding across the parking lot, coming to a stop laying on its back about thirty feet away from the door. There is also a keyblade embedded in its chest.

A few moments later, Vanitas steps out, followed shortly by Dazai. The pair walk over to the body and peer down at it as it lays there motionless. Since only distant cameras are recording this, what they say cannot be heard. But based on their expressions and random gestures towards the body, it's probably an argument of some sort.

Then Giriko's former body suddenly grabs Dazai's leg, and Dazai lets out a shriek that can be heard on the distant cameras, albeit faintly.

In the house, Saki looks to the window at the same time Dazai screams. She says, "What was that?"

Karen who looks to the window as well says "Maybe an owl?" All people at the party discuss the possibility of it being some kind of owl, and they end up using a stored reference database on someone's phone to look up the sounds a screech owl makes. By the time they find a sufficient answer, the following fight is long over and there are no more noises to be heard, so they collectively write it off as 'just an owl'.

Giriko is holding onto Dazai, picking him up and holding him upside-down as he stands up. Dazai flails uselessly like the loser he is, trying to kick his way out of the grasp but failing to make progress. Vanitas, meanwhile, holds a hand out towards Giriko's former body. The keyblade embedded in it suddenly de-materializes and reappears in Vanitas' outstretched hand, and a moment later he's rushing at Giriko's former body to attack it. A clean cut slices off the arm, and Dazai falls to the ground. And while he is down, he's not going to be out of the fight, as he's scrambling to turn around and grab Giriko's former body's bare leg, thereby nullifying any power within it. Abruptly the body falls back down, turning to a lifeless corpse once more.

Vanitas still stabs it a few times to make sure it's good and dead. Then the pair tie the body to a tree with some rope before heading back inside for the night. Everyone inside the house is left unaware of what just happened outside.

The night passes with no new deaths.

It's like I told you the other day, spikes. [Remember? When you said things like you gotta get away with it, you know? and just don't die.]

[huff] You still would have gotten caught, especially if you wanted to kill someone with a chainsaw.

Kid, you're not following.

[She thought Silver was smarter than this.]

It goes like this.

Demon Weapon's been fuckin' unstable since week one, and this week it's even more homicidal than usual. It's been acting suspicious, dangerous. It lost its fuckin' shit on Wednesday, yeah? It fuckin' outright said it's gonna kill someone.

Then, Thursday night, there's a fuckin' chainsaw massacre. Who did it? Obviously the fuckin' chainsaw. Only problem is, the fuckin' chainsaw was under total surveillance all night, and didn't fuckin' murder anyone.

Do you get it now, kid? The question all you idiots would be asking yourselves?

[iblistriggered]

[Silver just sounds tired, unsurprisingly] We'd be asking how you could be in two places at once. But then I would have brought up your extra body. And then someone who knew about your golems would have spoken up. And you would have failed.

... it was a good plan. But you overdid it.

[failsaw]

Kid, when you asked me what these gloves were for, did I tell you they're for golem enchanting? No, I fuckin' lied to your face. Why do you think anyone here knew I could make golems? [George knew, but he was the only one.]

[iblistriggered]

[sighs] Yeah. I figured it was all an act. [but he wanted it not to be] Either way, you failed. You won't get to see your Arachne again. Or did you make her up, too?

[failsaw]

[Giriko hisses a hurt breath in between clenched teeth. But she doesn't start yelling, doesn't scream or rush at Silver.

The chance is gone. Arachne's name is still just that old, unhealing wound. She's gotten used to the ache, the Foundation's been holding Arachne over Giriko's head since an hour after she got to this universe.]

This was the only fuckin' chance I was gonna get, yeah? Nothin' else was gonna bring her back. [Not "bring her here", but "bring her back".]

[iblistriggered]

[oh.

well.

that's surprising. He was expecting to at least get throttled for that one.]

So the only person you ever cared about, the only thing you haven't lied about... she's gone. It's not the Foundation has the power to bring her back anyway, not purposefully. But you still had to take the shot.

[failsaw]

If I didn't try... [Her voice catches in her throat.]

I couldn't fuckin' live with myself if I didn't try.

[oceanicbutterfly]

[...nods.]

[iblistriggered]

...

Well. Now you get to be alone with your memories and your lies, for as long as any of us have, I guess.

[failsaw]

You really think that's something new? I've been telling all of you since day one, I'm a fuckin' terrible person, remember? I know what I fuckin' deserve.

[iblistriggered]

... Yeah. Guess you have been.

[dereban]

Suddenly I'm super glad I took the chainsaw.

[failsaw]

... you did?

[dereban]

I frequent the garage and it was Thursday-- someone had utilized crap in there before, so I thought that the possibility of it repeating would be there, so I grabbed anything that seemed dangerous there.

[failsaw]

That's a brave fuckin' thing to confess, yeah? [Somehow, Giriko makes that sound like a threat.]

[dereban]

I know.

But it's not like I'm scared of what'll happen.

[ she responds cooly in spite of the threat ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

[...maybe Inaba isn't, but Karen's going to gently pull her away.]

[failsaw]

I'm sure you fuckin' aren't. [It's not sarcastic.]

[dereban]

[ well, she'll just shrug and not say anything back - she has no witty quips here as she shrugs her shoulders and lets herself get led away by Karen. ]
