[ After getting permission on the staff, they take over the lounge. Futons, blankets, sleeping bags, and pillows are all dragged out into the middle of the room. Time to build a fort, guys!
Or come to the Lounge to find it made and everyone chilling out. There's hot chocolate and snacks! ]
Well, I have to be plain about how I want to play, don't I? I want a few more opponents at least.
[She's totally picking up on the whole 'plain' tic thing, or maybe she's just returning a small volley in kind. But it's also the truth: she's letting her enjoyment of dueling carry her through today, the things that happened, and the uncertain task of promoting Duel Monsters in a way she isn't used to.
Normally, she'd just grab a decent duelist and show them.]
So, Link Summoning -- it's in the name. You can chain summons in a way that lets you complete several per turn, or even across turns.
[Insert detailed explanation of Link Summons and the general playstyle here because I'm a mega-casual when it comes to the card game and there's a lot of words involved.]
[There's a tiny bit of either annoyance or amusement at the jab at the plain tic. It's gone too fast to tell as shock takes over fast.]
Y-you really plan to challenge someone plain like me to a duel?! I can feel my life points dropping already...!
[It's like a main character challenging backgrounder no. 2957 to a duel. It's obvious who's going to get steamrolled.]
There's been a lot of changes...
[At least Pendulum Summoning technically got nerfed... along with the rates at which other summoning types can flood the field. Looks like she'll need to study up on the types of Link Monsters]
[She gives a small laugh, it's more amused than anything because Tsumugi sure can be dramatic about the weirdest things.]
If you've got experience, you're already head and shoulders above the rest. It'll be fine. I'll be gentle.
[And unlike some people, she does in fact have the delicate touch of someone who regularly duels with her more averagely-skilled classmates using a very average dummy deck.]
I need you all to last until we get out of here, after all.
I-I’m not sure if you can gently steamroll someone...
[Still, if she’s got the app downloaded already, it’ll be already open and getting scrolled through. Is Law of the Normal in here? She’s admittedly looking for older cards.]
Well... If we get enough people playing, then their wins against eachother should plain balance out their losses against you, right? No one is going to go in expecting to beat the most experienced person here. It’d be like getting your first Pokémon then heading straight to the Elite Four expecting to win!
But I think you can slow down while steamrolling someone?
[There's a brief laugh, good-natured, because she's not going to deny that she'll probably wipe the floor with everyone here at least for a little while before they all get acclimated. Though who knows -- maybe this damn murder resort is hiding a card games prodigy.
Wouldn't be the weirdest origin story.
Also she can totally have Law of the Normal to set up her Queen of the Plain deck.]
Hmm. I think it'd be fun to see some of matches you newbies get up to. It's been a while since I really sat down and watched.
[At least when it comes to regular matches, anyway.]
[A small smile tugs at the corner of Tsumugi's lips at the laugh.
Also, good, excellent. She doesn't need anything too flashy in her deck. Or at least her main deck. She's already got plans for a second, far more powerful, one.]
Hmm... maybe we could have a tournament? Then the winner faces you?
[Get everyone in one place. It'd make sure that whoever gets to face Blue Angel is the strongest of their bunch too.]
[You can't learn anything from being squashed in a blink, after all.
And really, everyone knows that any duelist worth their salt has at least two decks. Some have more. If you're going full Duel Links style you probably have ten or so, I haven't played that game in ages.]
And I know I said I'd like to watch some matches, but I don't think I'd want to sit out an entire tournament. Maybe I'll sneak in some skirmishes on the side.
[She's used to sitting at the top of the heap, but usually the top of the heap isn't just her? It's a hard-knock life staying in fighting form.]
no subject
[There's another plainness spiel on the tip of Tsumugi's tongue, but it's cut off when Link Summoning is brought up.]
Umm... Link Summoning?
[Well, that's new.]

I think I get it though.
