With the air heavier and gloomier than before, Goro's feeling... much more restless. So, about an hour after the games have ended, he can be found in the kitchen. He'll recruit anyone who comes in (that he knows can cook/bake, obvs). He's not... actually doing any cooking, himself, though he does make some coffee and lots of sandwiches.

There is a variety of other dishes (see Saki's toplevel for more items), as well!

Everything is being set up outside, not too far from the pool, and there are blankets on the ground - time for a picnic! ]

...perhaps. Would you like to hear about someone I know, back home? I've been thinking of him, lately. He's an interesting fellow.

[She nods to that, offering a weak smile.]

Sure.

His name is Subaki. He's my younger sister's retainer, and one of Hoshido's sky knights.

[ a fond look crosses her face ]

He's always been driven by his need to be absolutely perfect in everything he does. He won't settle for a 99 when he could get a 100. It's...made him a little difficult to deal with at times, I admit.

But I've always been very fond of him. Especially when I was a teenager.

[ that kind of fond, if you catch her drift ]

[Ah. Yes. Saki's no stranger to things like that.]

Were you still close before you came here?

Fairly, yes. I hadn't seen him in a while until recently, so we had a little catching up to do. There was...an incident, though. It's a long story in and of itself, but a band of assassins had been targeting me, and he...saved my life, more than once. Defeated them like it was nothing.

[...Oh.]

Assassins?

[She looks alarmed because how does one not, when faced with an explanation like that.]

Like I said, it's a long story. A grudge against my mother and me, mainly, but also political reasons.

That's... true. The past was full of things like that, wasn't it?

[A beat. And then:]

Er- even this time, I mean.

[prayerwheel]

[ quirks up an eyebrow ]

What do you mean?

My world is about a thousand years ahead of this one.

[prayerwheel]

[ .....yesh she's not sure how to respond to that???

Azura just kinda stares at her in shock. ]

My time is far ahead of this one. By my time, no one really assassinates people for political reasons.

It's... a lot more peaceful, I suppose. But we've lost a lot of the technology of this time, too.

Pros and cons, hmm...

[ a pause ]

It seems we're the opposite. We measure time a bit differently in my realm, but I'm from a significantly less advanced period than this world.

What is yours like, if I may ask?

[Always a tough question to answer, but she's gotten better at it after all this time.]

It's really peaceful. I come from a district made up of seven villages. Everyone has cantus, and we don't use money. People naturally move into whatever work is needed to support the district. Naturally, most of the work is agricultural, but we have government officials and teachers and priests as well.

Everything we do is for the good of the villages.
