Round 4 intro post

The last checks have been made. The support staff is pulling back to site 4 proper. Everyone not staying on-site at the containment area is saying their goodbyes and their 'see you soon's. It's all supposed to be business as usual, after all. Nothing really bad ever happens during this containment procedure, so everything should be alright. But despite that knowledge, there is a sense of anxiety in the air. Nobody expects anything bad to happen, but after the last year of chaos even a safe SCP like this has become 'I'll breathe more easily when it's over.'

Gabe is there too, giving his final instructions to everyone staying at the house. He looks almost bored with the proceedings, and he keeps looking back to his clipboard to make sure he has covered everything. One last run-through of how the 'game' will work, one last reminder of where to meet the retrieval team once someone has been eliminated from the game, one last warning to stay on-site until you have been eliminated. "We can't contact any of you directly during the game," he says at the end, "But we'll be watching. It should be smooth sailing, barring a bit of personal drama here and there, but all of us back at the main site will be watching carefully. If something goes wrong, we'll extract you guys."

At the very least, those familiar with Gabe will be able to tell he means what he says. So maybe his words can be reassuring?

Once everyone has left and the 24 contestants are left to their own devices, they will find a note in the living room:

Welcome!

Meet me in the studio at 2 pm. Until then, say your hellos and get to know each other.

- The Host

It looks like everyone has some time to get acquainted with each other. Some finger foods (fruit and veggie trays, sandwiches, cans of soda) have been left in the kitchen for people to have for lunch.

((Welcome to SCP Round 4: Friend or Foe? This first part is for mingling. Part 2 will go up at 2 pm EST.

If you haven't done so already, go here and do the mass-adding for private conversation posts.))

We're around 10 C-classes here as far as I know, that's nearly half of our full group. The teams would need to be very small for it, but it's not impossible.

[ Are they just tag teaming? ]
allmyfriendsaredead: ([Surprise] my hand)

[personal profile] allmyfriendsaredead 2019-06-22 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
There are that many?

[Okay, genuinely surprised there. She didn't realize that was the final number.]

...Based on the file, I could understand if they wanted people who they thought would be especially entertaining, but that still seems like a lot.

Give or take. I don't know of everyone here, so I can't do an exact count.

[ It's... definitely a lot though. ]

And I'm not sure if 'entertaining' in this context is compliment or insult, to be quite honest.
allmyfriendsaredead: ([Scowl] ever reach you)

[personal profile] allmyfriendsaredead 2019-06-22 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither, if I'm being honest.

[Her tone is dry. She knows why they would find it amusing, but the very idea of that - of being watched for entertainment - is frustrating.]

...We'll have to see what our host says. But maybe after we're done with today's activities, we should try to talk to all of the other C-class and decide on our approach.

[They're meant to be leaders, after all.]
georgeous: (Looking down on you)

[personal profile] georgeous 2019-06-22 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds wise. We'll be dealing with a lot of... unusual leadership challenges after all.

[ This is like suddenly being assigned dorm mother... ]
allmyfriendsaredead: ([Serious] She grabbed my)

[personal profile] allmyfriendsaredead 2019-06-22 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
...It's also been pointed out to me that the file specifies there haven't been any unexpected casualties lately.

I would like to keep even "expected" casualties to a minimum.

I haven't had the time to watch the previous seasons of this TV program yet, but at the very least I wouldn't know of any contestant dying in the course of the last season.

[ He figures he'd at least have found out through the gossip mill inside the foundation. ]
allmyfriendsaredead: ([Unimpressed] I can't come in.)

[personal profile] allmyfriendsaredead 2019-06-22 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither. I didn't realize this was the SCP we were containing until we got here.

[And she really doesn't like just how many unknowns there are turning out to be.]
georgeous: (Serious talk)

The assignment was very vague.

[ A nod. ]

That's not out of the ordinary in itself, but I do wonder about this one. The long wait period was also peculiar.
allmyfriendsaredead: ([Look] can't touch.)

[personal profile] allmyfriendsaredead 2019-06-22 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It took them a long time to select candidates... But the file itself makes it sound much simpler.

If we're fortunate, it's just elaborate issues with bureaucracy.
allmyfriendsaredead: ([Sweat] Ahh; please)

[personal profile] allmyfriendsaredead 2019-06-23 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
...Let's hope we're fortunate, then.
