Round 4 TDM

All of you have been given notice within the last week: new duties, ones that require you to temporarily relocate to a remote site in California. The actual Foundation site is about what you would expect from the Foundation: functional, but not exactly comfortable. For the week or two it takes for all the Agents to be relocated, you are at that site, waiting for further instructions. Nothing too terrible happens during that time, as this site is primarily for the containment of one large SCP, and any other SCPs at the site are Safe. There is plenty of time to enjoy the nearby forest or lake if you like, the local Agents don't seem to mind if you go outside so long as you're back by dinnertime. There are no towns nearby, though. The site is the only bit of civilization for miles.
Once the final Agents arrive the real work can begin. Until then, just relax and get to know the area, and possibly each other.
All of the Agents involved in the 'final cut' are brought into a meeting room, where an Agent that may be familiar to some is waiting. He goes over the basics of SCP-6593 and how it operates. A couple dozen Agents will enter the house and live there for a few weeks, completing challenges and living out life in that strange house. He is quick to explain that not everyone present will be participants in the 'game' itself: those not picked as participants from the people at the meeting will be support staff working in the background, making sure everything runs smoothly and ready on standby should anything go wrong. But given the years that it has been since any fatal accidents have occurred, he doubts that this will be anything other than a rather boring containment procedure.
Everyone will have a couple hours to do a 'meet and greet' before heading out to the site to explore it. Say hi to your co-workers, everyone! You're going to be working in close quarters with them for pretty much the whole summer.
The containment site, a short 20 minutes away by truck, consists of two buildings: a house and a large, enclosed studio. The studio is currently closed off- the Agent in charge will explain that final preparations are still being made there- but the house is open for exploration.
Feel free to check out the layout of the house and inspect anything you wish! Be careful though, as the mental effects of the house itself (as listed on the SCP page) will start to slowly affect characters as soon as they set foot inside the house itself.
As part of the final testing to see who will be the participants, on-site Agents have set up a trial game. For this game, characters are paired off and each given a small buzzer that attaches to their arm. One half is given a card with a 'password' on it, as well as five-ish related words that cannot be said. The Agent with the card needs to get the other Agent to say the 'password', but cannot say the word itself, nor any of the other listed words. If the Agent with the card says any of those words, their partner will receive a mild electric shock. If their partner guesses incorrectly, then the Agent with the card will receive an electric shock. Once the correct word is said by the partner, the roles will reverse and they will go again. When both sides have done both roles, the game ends.
The shocks are automatically set to be annoying, but not high enough voltage to injure someone. That said, this IS an SCP, and sometimes accidents can happen...
You're only exploring the site, and yet someone has already made a mess of things. Maybe someone destroyed the kitchen trying to make a milkshake. Or maybe they dropped some sensitive equipment into the pool. Or hell, maybe they took all the booze out of the rec room. Whatever the case, someone has committed a heinous crime, and you're tasked with finding out who did it. Someone's going to get reprimanded for the slip-up, and you really don't want it to be you. Not when the lead Agent is known for being a hardass on people.
Track down the booze-thief/kitchen-destroyer/criminal mastermind and make sure they take responsibility for what they have done.
There is a strange machine in the house. It looks like a vending machine, maybe? But when you put in a dollar, Weird Shit comes out. Sometimes it's booze, sometimes it's a shirt or sandals, sometimes it's pool floaties. Hell, sometimes you even get weapons! And there's these weird fortune cookies in there too.
What does your character get? And are they sharing their strange loot with any acquaintances?

So you think the same will happen in this place? It'll turn into a murder house?

[ In spite of how dismissive she sounds and the slight dryness in her voice, there seems to be something more to what she's saying. ]
It's going to suck if it does end up like that. . . I'm sure Atsushi is going to worry if it does.
no subject
but he doesn't want to alert her either, so he sighs. ]
Yeah, makes sense. There's a lot of C-class agents here but I guess that could be both a good and a bad thing. [ he puts his hands in his pockets, frowning. ] But if it comes to that, then I guess it should be the job of the C-class to protect you guys.
no subject
Don't you think it's suspicious that there are so many C-class agents here, though. . .? Like it doesn't feel like a mission for a C-class though. Or at least. Not this many.
no subject
[ well, it wasn't like oda hadn't noticed it. the amount of higher rank agents in a mission that is supposedly harmless is odd. but recognizing it means accepting the fact that there's more to this than meets the eye. ]
Maybe they have too many C-class agents not doing anything. They have to justify keeping us here somehow.
no subject
[ Her answer is a little quiet and it's obvious that she doesn't entirely believe Oda - how can she? There's no way that this is just some simple mission.
Not with what she knows.
Not with how the article is written. ]
But isn't the point of being a C-class mean 'leading people and doing more menial tasks' instead of being thrown into the wolves?
no subject
[ every time the foundation tells him that d-class agents are expendable, he throws himself into danger with even more resolution than before. ]
We can’t back out, though. Only prepare for the worst.
no subject
[ It's hard to tell if she's being genuine or serious because her voice is
so dry. ]
Yeah. Fortunately, I brought my bullshit emergency kit.
no subject
[ enough to have warranted being assigned to c-class, apparently. ]
That's always good to have. Just try not to get yourself into trouble either. People usually don't like being called out.
no subject
"People usually don't like being called out" is kind of the reason why she almost got into trouble recently. ]
I try, but sometimes it's necessary, even if they don't like it. People need to know the mistakes they're making instead of being stupid about it, even if it means calling them out on their bullshit.
no subject
[ oda understands that sentiment very well but...she looks young, and the last thing he wants is for her to get hurt because of it. ]
no subject
[ She sighs a little heavily, running fingers through her hair. ]
It's unfortunate, but it can't be helped, I guess.
no subject
Just don't go at it alone when you do something like that. Even agents on their own can be dangerous with all those skills they have, so it's best to have back up-- even if you have powers of your own.
[ not like he knows whether inaba has any abilities, but after seeing so many people here with abilities of their own, he can kind of guess that she must have something. ]
no subject
[ ... ]
I don't have powers.
[ Denial is also a river in Egypt, Inaba.
Especially since she has an ability given to her in this world. ]
no subject
[ she had mentioned atsushi, but oda still has many negative opinions about that kid. if he does care, then it would be a matter of asking how much danger he might be putting her in.
and that sure is a long pause. oda's not as stupid as he may look, and he realizes that she's probably hiding something but he figures that she must have her reasons. ]
My point still stands, then. You shouldn't be so reckless if you can't defend yourself.
no subject
[ She leaves out the whole I'm not worth it spiel and just smiles. ]
And I'll try not to if it's unnecessary. I'm not looking for a fight — or to die.
[ Again. ]
no subject
[ oda knits his brows, letting his worried expression finally show. he's let most of her other comments slide but this is more self deprecation than he thinks that anyone should have to deal with. ]
If you've got those worries, then I'm pretty sure that he does, too. [ he sighs, shaking his head. ] It doesn't mean you're a bother to him.
no subject
[ She's said that before, hasn't she? That she wants to protect him if she can do that.
If that meant not letting him help her out or save her, she was fine with that. She can't be a burden to him. Even if Oda says he might not feel that way. Besides, he's not here.
Her hand immediately goes to her wrist, tinkering with the bracelet she's wearing before she sighs. ]
Even if I can't do much. But that's fine.
no subject
[ his gaze lowers momentarily, noticing the bracelet, before looking away. ]
Easier said than done but...don't sell yourself so short, Inaba. You're clearly doing your best.
no subject
[ She laughs a little bitterly. ]
And my best is all I can do, really.
[ She still messes with her bracelet, although she's just mostly tinkering with the solo white bead of her mostly black beaded bracelet. ]
