Round 4 TDM

0. Calm Before the Storm

All of you have been given notice within the last week: new duties, ones that require you to temporarily relocate to a remote site in California. The actual Foundation site is about what you would expect from the Foundation: functional, but not exactly comfortable. For the week or two it takes for all the Agents to be relocated, you are at that site, waiting for further instructions. Nothing too terrible happens during that time, as this site is primarily for the containment of one large SCP, and any other SCPs at the site are Safe. There is plenty of time to enjoy the nearby forest or lake if you like, the local Agents don't seem to mind if you go outside so long as you're back by dinnertime. There are no towns nearby, though. The site is the only bit of civilization for miles.

Once the final Agents arrive the real work can begin. Until then, just relax and get to know the area, and possibly each other.

1. Meet and greet/ general info

All of the Agents involved in the 'final cut' are brought into a meeting room, where an Agent that may be familiar to some is waiting. He goes over the basics of SCP-6593 and how it operates. A couple dozen Agents will enter the house and live there for a few weeks, completing challenges and living out life in that strange house. He is quick to explain that not everyone present will be participants in the 'game' itself: those not picked as participants from the people at the meeting will be support staff working in the background, making sure everything runs smoothly and ready on standby should anything go wrong. But given the years that it has been since any fatal accidents have occurred, he doubts that this will be anything other than a rather boring containment procedure.

Everyone will have a couple hours to do a 'meet and greet' before heading out to the site to explore it. Say hi to your co-workers, everyone! You're going to be working in close quarters with them for pretty much the whole summer.

2. Site Exploration

The containment site, a short 20 minutes away by truck, consists of two buildings: a house and a large, enclosed studio. The studio is currently closed off- the Agent in charge will explain that final preparations are still being made there- but the house is open for exploration.

Feel free to check out the layout of the house and inspect anything you wish! Be careful though, as the mental effects of the house itself (as listed on the SCP page) will start to slowly affect characters as soon as they set foot inside the house itself.

3. Game Time!

As part of the final testing to see who will be the participants, on-site Agents have set up a trial game. For this game, characters are paired off and each given a small buzzer that attaches to their arm. One half is given a card with a 'password' on it, as well as five-ish related words that cannot be said. The Agent with the card needs to get the other Agent to say the 'password', but cannot say the word itself, nor any of the other listed words. If the Agent with the card says any of those words, their partner will receive a mild electric shock. If their partner guesses incorrectly, then the Agent with the card will receive an electric shock. Once the correct word is said by the partner, the roles will reverse and they will go again. When both sides have done both roles, the game ends.

The shocks are automatically set to be annoying, but not high enough voltage to injure someone. That said, this IS an SCP, and sometimes accidents can happen...

4. A Criminal is Loose

You're only exploring the site, and yet someone has already made a mess of things. Maybe someone destroyed the kitchen trying to make a milkshake. Or maybe they dropped some sensitive equipment into the pool. Or hell, maybe they took all the booze out of the rec room. Whatever the case, someone has committed a heinous crime, and you're tasked with finding out who did it. Someone's going to get reprimanded for the slip-up, and you really don't want it to be you. Not when the lead Agent is known for being a hardass on people.

Track down the booze-thief/kitchen-destroyer/criminal mastermind and make sure they take responsibility for what they have done.

5. Gacha Fun

There is a strange machine in the house. It looks like a vending machine, maybe? But when you put in a dollar, Weird Shit comes out. Sometimes it's booze, sometimes it's a shirt or sandals, sometimes it's pool floaties. Hell, sometimes you even get weapons! And there's these weird fortune cookies in there too.

What does your character get? And are they sharing their strange loot with any acquaintances?

Oh? I see. So you're aware of the problem and preventing it ahead of schedule.

[Good for his past self. Kind of useless for him, though.]

I'd be curious to see how much you could extend his life... Although it's too late for me there as well. But you shouldn't worry about it.

From the start, by becoming "Mikado" I doomed myself. Burning out instead isn't ideal, but from my world's perspective, I've already canceled my own existence.

I don't think you're necessarily doomed here, though. I mean, in the first place, aren't out bodies around here all gigai? I mean, obviously this place isn't ideal, but isn't being brought here like a second chance at life? Isn't that... something that one should take advantage of? You're here, and that means you don't have to be the person that canceled their own existence anymore.

[...Sorry Mikado, she's kind of passionate about this topic since it's! Very important to her personally! Even if the situation is bad, this is a chance! To live a happy life!]

cw: gonna potentially get into suicidal ideation here

[He watches her for a moment, before closing his laptop.]

Well, maybe we should approach it this way, then.

Why do you think I should exist in this world?

Do you think there needs to be a reason to exist? We were literally all brought here to this world through random chance.

I like to think there should be. It seems you already know the consequences of my power.

Why should something like that remain in this world? It's possible the consequences could be dire here, just like it was in mine.

Just because the power exists doesn't mean it has to be used. Even in my own world some of the consequences of that power existed, and if we didn't research it properly we might never have even found out before it was too late.

[...Then the question becomes how much you can trust the Foundation and... oh, right. They're all over the place in terms of trustworthiness.]

...Aside from that, there are a lot of ways to nullify your powers around here, aren't there? You could probably request being fitted with a power nullifier if you wanted, though you might have to work for a while for it.

Personally, though, I think that "someone would be sad if you're gone" is enough reason to exist. There are a lot of people that don't even have that in this world, though.
numberedays: ([3 Smile] I came up with so many)

[...Hahaha. That gets a soft chuckle from him.]

I think I can see why he fell for you.

[There's some similarities, aren't there?]

For me at least, as "Mikado Aisaka," there isn't anyone who would be sad if I were gone. That's just the way it is, even if your Nanashi was able to overcome that.
