The smell of smoke wafted around them, as the Witch stood before them - flanked by all her demons and her servants.

There was no audience, no trial.

It was just them...and the Witch.

The Witch who stood before the pyre, as if accepting her fate.


In this, this final hour... Music could be heard by both the pieces and those that looked on from another plane.

Their forms were changed again, for the final time - to those of the trial.

A trial that could easily turn into an execution...or a redemption.

But it still had to happen.
If something heals improperly, you must cause pain and reopen the wounds to make it heal correctly.
But.
There was always the risk of infection...

....Would this end....in a happy ending...?

...Nothing was certain.

Nothing, except the knowledge in their own hearts and minds.

[With three cases done, another change starts to occur. Watanuki remains asleep, but some familiar faces begin to emerge around the trial area, near the edges of the 'game board'.

They are out of play, but that doesn't mean they can't offer their support, right?]

[There's no way he'd hold back any longer, not once he felt Buer "die." He's staggering from absorbing a few days of the demon's memories, but he has far less to deal with than some of the others. With a cry, he emerges from whatever veil separates the living and the dead, gaze darting from face to face until his eyes settle on Sherlock.]

[Hell yeah, guess who's back, distinctly not in black (see: right), and whooping like he's at a parade when he comes crowding on in. His pink hair is in a long braid for the occasion on top of the yukata, so apparently he just adopted part of Watanuki's wardrobe while he was on the other side.

Also, he's got someone by the hand and is totally pulling them along, and he's... walking on the air? Anon is definitely having way too much fun with this.]

[The last two cases fall one right after the other, so the effects of both victories happen almost at once. First, all remaining demons and servants seem to lurch in unison, as something important is returned to them. Or to their bodies, technically. And as the last of the dead filter through to life again, all Pieces and previous-Pieces are present and accounted for.

And then, finally, Watanuki opens his eyes once more.]

...you're doing great, everyone.

[Yep. As he stands and looks around, he's smiling warmly at everyone. He's so, so proud of all of you. Words can't even fully express it.]

Just a little more, you're almost there.

[And with Watanuki comes his ever loyal murderer slash Furniture. Except this time, he's wreathed in golden light, and his quills and body have taken on a white-gold color and an ethereal glow. The metallic blood-red stripes on his quills and limbs shine like rubies. He floats a foot or so off the ground next to the Witch of Dimensions, arms folded and a small smile on his face]

You've all found the truth. Now it's time to use it.
