WEEK 6 - LOBELIA

Six weeks.

They had been here for that long, and still...the game was continuing.
Yet, it felt like they were finally about to reach the end of it...
Just a little longer. 🗈

Still, things were just the same as they had been the past few weeks.

The goats and servants were still around, and so too were the witches.
Yet, it felt like this week would be the week they would finally get all the pieces to the puzzle.
But...could they solve it?

Only time would tell.

[ He sighs and just lets it slide. It's his own fault anyway, so might as well own up to it. ]

I guess I am now too. [ But ok sure, he can do this. Maybe. Probably. Who knows. ] Is it better homemade? That's what my mother used to say.

It does seem to be going around lately, I hadn't known it was so contagious.

[Kurama's sense of humor, man. He gets out some measuring implements, too.]

Well, that depends on the skill involved. But it's definitely more individual. Premade sauce all tastes basically the same, when sauce made by two different people will taste different from both premade and each other's.

It lets you adjust things to personal tastes.

[ He lets out a somewhat amused huff at that. Who knew he would go from a vampire epidemic to a demon one? ]

Oh. I like spicy things. And garlic doesn't bother me. [ He had to say that, just in case. Watching all of and vaguely wondering how many tools are needed to make a simple sauce. ]

Mine tends to run a little to the sweet, but I don't mind spicy.

[Kurama measures out the base for the sauce before humming lightly at the other bottles. He smiles after a moment and pushes the bowl in front of Natsuno.]

Why don't you try seasoning it? If it doesn't work out, we can always start over.

Mhn, sure. [ Well might as well go for it. He can put in the measured amounts for the base just fine, but he's definitely staring blankly at the actual seasoning part. Hm let's see: sweet is sugar, spicy is chili flakes, and there has to be salt? Adding those three in he probably didn't do too badly.

But then he spots some hoisin and wasabi and just going to town here. ]

Does that work? My sense of taste is... [ Baring his fangs here. It also doesn't help that he only had his fathers cooking for a while too, which was a disaster. ]

[Natsuno. Oh my god.

Kurama isn't going to laugh. He swears. He tastes a little of the new sauce and-

That sure does taste about how he expected.]

Is your sense of taste just dulled or outright not there for normal food?

I can eat regular food, but I was living off of just bread and stuff for a while. And then I was drinking blood so... [ If you ever wondered why he was intensely reclusive for the first two weeks, it turns out that starving to death does not exactly entice sociability. ]

I guess it's rusty. But I remember what food is supposed to taste like. [ His base is just astronomically bad. Here let him try this sauce-
and promptly spitting it out ohmygodthisishorrible. ]

Lesson one, seasoning to taste tends to require you to taste while you're doing it. Go a little at a time, test the flavor, instead of dumping everything in and then having regrets.

[Kurama is pretty sure Natsuno will have no objections to this bowl of sauce getting dumped down the sink. Apologies to the sink.]

Right.... [ It's not his fault he tends to do things all or nothing! Yes it is. Zero regrets to the sinks indigestion. ]

This cooking thing really is as complicated as Cooking Mama made it seem.

It's easier once you get a feel for it, much like any other skill.

[Kurama rinses the bowl quickly before shaking it out and setting it back down in front of Natsuno.]

I still want it to be spicy. [ But sure why not. Putting the base together fine like before. As for the actual seasoning.... sugar, just a drop of soy sauce this time. He'll taste it then, humming once and then adding a good chunk of chili flakes.
...it's extra spicy at this point, but it is edible! Just maybe not for the faint of heart. ]

Mn, wonder if this would go with dragon after all.

[Kurama tastes it himself and gives an amused hum of his own. Definitely not for the faint of heart.]

It might. And if we leave any of these in the refrigerator we might want to put a warning label on them.
