Another trial, another horrible outcome.

This time, it affected so many people...and yet, they still weren't done.
Who would be killed next?
Would they be able...to handle whatever happened?🗈

Still, things were just the same as they had been the past few weeks.

The goats and servants were still around, and so too were the witches.
It was all becoming routine at this point.
Was that a good thing, or a bad one...?
It was...too hard to tell, now...

...Either way, they were now closer to the end.
So, like always...they had to see it through.

No, scenery is a broader spectrum term, like when we were at the dock. Your glass collection would be considered "decoration." It's still pretty, I suppose.

I see. Even if both are pretty, this is something else. [ A nod. ] But if you aren't admiring the bottles, what are you doing, Erhard-sensei?

I'm not sure. I suppose I was lost in thought, that's all. Maybe I was contemplating trying something new. I have my favorite drinks, though they're all things I've only had since I joined the Foundation. I wasn't old enough to drink... before.

Isn't that all right? No matter how old you are, there's always something new to try and new favorites to uncover. Even if you missed something before, it isn't too late to try it now.

[cryosurgeon]

Exactly. I'm trying to fit what should have been several years of personal exploration into a short window. Things many people take for granted.

[He finally takes down a bottle of high-end chocolate liqueur.]

Want to try some with me?

Not everyone, Erhard-sensei.

[ At the question though, he pauses. ]

You want to drink with me?

Why not? Unless you don't drink alcohol... I'm sorry, I didn't even think to ask. I'm still not sure how old you are. Your body structure suggests late teens to late twenties, but that's a large range of assumption.

[clearumbrella]

Truthfully, sensei... I don't know either. I told you, didn't I? There are things I don't know. [ Alcohol, huh? He raises his head to look over the bottles. ]

But I've never had alcohol before. Do you enjoy the taste of it, sensei?

[cryosurgeon]

So your memory really is more blank than mine. I'm sorry.

[He cracks open the liqueur bottle and pours a little into two glasses, sliding one to Clear.]

Some of it. This one smells a bit sweet, so just sip it in case you don't like it. We don't know what your tolerance is, but I don't think this is too strong.

[clearumbrella]

You don't have to apologize, Erhard-sensei.

[ It isn't like it's Erhard's fault. He's uncertain it's anyone's fault, if anything... maybe it's a malfunction. He looks to the glass before reaching for his mask and touching the front. ]

I'll be careful. Though, I don't know if it'll have an effect at all. [ There are so many things he hasn't tried. Is this going to be the same as if a human drank? An odd feeling stirs in his chest.

He pops open the front of the mask and pulls out a straw. Looks like it's connected to the mask and, unsurprisingly, no part of his is face is revealed. He pushes the straw into the glass and takes a sip. ]

[Erhard's actually expecting the straw, he's seen those kinds of masks before. He doesn't comment on Clear's odd remark for now, patiently waiting and sipping from his own glass. The liqueur is almost delicately creamy, gently sweet, and strongly chocolate. It's like drinking a fine dessert.]

I think I like this one.

Yes. It's fairly sweet.

[cryosurgeon]

Do you like sweet things, then?

[On a whim, he adds a little bourbon to his glass and tries that. Hmm, okay, that's actually good.]

[clearumbrella]

Yes, I believe so. I enjoyed the donuts Tae-san made, too.

[ Curiously, he tilts his head and looks at the bourbon. ]

[cryosurgeon]

Fried food is bad for you, but even I enjoy it sometimes. I'm happy when people bring donuts into the Foundation offices.

[He shows Clear the bourbon bottle.]

It's not sweet, it's more... strong and a bit smoky. Do you want to try it the way I'm drinking it?

[clearumbrella]

Is it? [ That makes sense though. And, in a way, it feels like something he already knew.

He looks over the bottle carefully and nods. ] Is it good?
