WEEK 4 TRIAL
It was noon on Saturday.
No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.
The world...began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards another, much larger world...🗈

...As always, the courtroom was there - along with the audience, watching, waiting for the entertainment before them.
The Witch - Nirrti - was there, sitting in the most important place, watching all of them with a sharp, cruel gaze, though no smile could be seen on her face today.
Watanuki was also there, but he merely lounged in the back behind them, smoking a kiseru pipe in silence.
...It seemed as if he was content to watch - that he had to watch - as part of the rules of the game.
There was no music to be heard, but... perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.
Again, their forms had changed - perhaps into something different than last time, but...still a change, no matter how dramatic or inconsequential it was.
...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.
Truth was elusive, yet they had to find it.
No matter how painful, or upsetting.
No badly how much they all hurt.
For the sake of the dead...and the sake of them all.

And the only reason you would visit misfortune on someone if they didn't hate you is because you view yourself as misfortune.
You'd have no choice, for a human!
But a witch is different!

I am the cruelest, most wicked thing in the woooooorld! And Humans should do nothing but fear and die in front of me!!

Why choose Misfortune over Fortune or even Chance itself?

You've had to exert so much pressure for us to do what you want. Is it even possible to make that happen the world over? What about the thousandth world over?
The millionth world over?
Nirrti, you don't have that much control, but you can't relate to humans. Because you view yourself as fundamentally incompatible with us.
You need Kimihiro-kun to be a witch, to end your solitary existence, because connecting to a human is too frightening.

[That fire suddenly rises, and she herself...has stopped yelling.]
Tell me. What do you have to offer me, or any Witch? Friendship? Ha! Friendship is foolish, fleeting, and easily broken by the simplest of betrayals because you huuuuumans don't have a single loyal bone in your damned bodies!!
Look at this. Even someone who Kimihiro considered as his closest person - the one who would trust and believe him over everything - didn't! And what did it doooo? IT TORE HALF OF YOU APART!
Can't you see, can't you see can't you see that all your pretty words don't change the truuuuuuth?! Hahahaha, how sweet, how gentle you must think yourself to be, and how Righteous!
Of couuuuuuuurse I can't relate to such pitiful beings, do you even spare a thought towards the ants you trod on when you waaaaaaaalk? Of course not!! And I refuse to trust iiiiinsects when they've been proven to bite over and over agaaaaaain!!

He's aware of her fire, but he doesn't seem to care, and he reaches right through it to grab Nirrti's sleeve.
His words sound hollow and tired, but no less important.]
Oi.
Don't use my pain to justify your actions.

...I - forgive me, Kimihiro.
I - got too caught up in what she was saying.

But she's not wrong. It's not about 'Witch' or 'Human', it's about 'Nirrti'. Regardless of how you define yourself, what you say and do is you, and only you. Regardless of the reason why, you still choose not to open your heart to others. And that has nothing to do with you being a Witch.

Good work, Kimihiro.

and honestly...]
Thank you, Kimihiro-kun.

Her entire body fades away, to show everyone there a horribly burnt corpse.
It only lasts for a second, but she collapses to her knees...and trembles.
...And quietly, they can see her begin to cry.]

[She presses her hands into her face, her body flickering every so often - before her trembling, and her tears....turn into laughter.
...But it's not joyful laughter, or the cruel laughter she has done before.
It's...so horribly, intensely broken...]
Ha....ha ha ha....
4/4 - VERDICT
[It's quiet, but -
then, she stands - and the flames, her flames, black and cold and terrifying, flood her body, practically making it so she is nothing but but a pair of angry, vengeful eyes - burning down at all of them.]
....I accept the Blue Truth. Syaoran is guilty!
[She reaches out a firey arm, and when she speaks -
it is nothing but sheer hatred and fury emanating from her very voice, hot and harsh enough to almost make all of them stumble back.]
EXECUTE HIM, ANON!

You drove that home last week, you know. We are weak, and our trust can be used against us.
But part of being human is getting back up and trying again, trusting even when we know it might not be safest for us.
If the goal is to tear us apart, of course you'll be right some of the time. But not all of the time.
no subject
....Fine. Believe what you want.
It won't bring back Natsuno, or stop the tears that will fall here.
[And with that, she spins around, her long hair flowing behind her.]
