WEEK 4 TRIAL

It was noon on Saturday.

No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.

The world...began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards another, much larger world...πŸ—ˆ

...As always, the courtroom was there - along with the audience, watching, waiting for the entertainment before them.

The Witch - Nirrti - was there, sitting in the most important place, watching all of them with a sharp, cruel gaze, though no smile could be seen on her face today.

Watanuki was also there, but he merely lounged in the back behind them, smoking a kiseru pipe in silence.
...It seemed as if he was content to watch - that he had to watch - as part of the rules of the game.

There was no music to be heard, but... perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

Again, their forms had changed - perhaps into something different than last time, but...still a change, no matter how dramatic or inconsequential it was.

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.

Truth was elusive, yet they had to find it.
No matter how painful, or upsetting.
No badly how much they all hurt.

For the sake of the dead...and the sake of them all.

Yeah. Paint dries slowly but it wasn't even tacky. Still wet enough to drop? It had to be nearly right before we all woke up.

I agree, Perhaps an hour or two at the most, oil-base paints take about six to eight hours to dry.

Do we know around when Natsuno-san was killed?

How fresh was the blood puddle at the actual murder scene? Blood can dry in thirty minutes at this ambient temperature.

[Takumi has no clue, and lets others answer]

If there's a big difference in time... and so close to when we woke up... we have to consider that maybe the culprit isn't the one that set up the scene.

[personal profile] excavated 2019-04-20 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Should we ask the Witch about that, then? If the culprit set up the scene in the library.

We should at some point. But remember what we talked about: don't throw the Blue around wildly. Can't hurt to ask her without it though!

[personal profile] excavated 2019-04-20 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. I'll give it a shot then.

That's what I was thinking!

[personal profile] cryosurgeon 2019-04-20 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Who would bother trying to aid the culprit like that, though?
improbablenotimpossible: (You see but do not observe)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2019-04-20 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's someone they know and care deeply for.
cryosurgeon: ([cannula] work your way in)

[personal profile] cryosurgeon 2019-04-20 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
... how lucky for the culprit.

[Was that... sarcasm? It's impossible to tell with his tone and no facial expressions or body language to read.]

Someone who wanted to protect their friend or maybe prevent something really bad from happening if the culprit gets caught?

[ Head tilt as he talks. ]

Maybe we should focus mostly on evidence at the Chapel then?
improbablenotimpossible: (You see but do not observe)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2019-04-20 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, that may narrow things down for us.

[personal profile] goldenmaniac 2019-04-20 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone that doesn't want them executed. Honestly, I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet- probably because of the weird sleep we're under.

But I can't say that's what happened either- just that we should be open to the idea.

The blood was totally congealed. You couldn't even tell if there was a body in it.
goldenmaniac: (29)

[personal profile] goldenmaniac 2019-04-20 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Then yeah, there was a time frame between when he was killed and when the scene was set up. Could just be how long it took to set up the scene... or longer.
anonnomnomnom: (I really need a new outfit.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-04-20 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It also depends on how long it takes for a jinrou to die after bleeding out. I never checked.

[Gallows humor from the gallows furry.]

[personal profile] goldenmaniac 2019-04-20 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
True. If he really was way sturdier even with his abilities locked down he could have still been pumping blood for a while.

[Gross]

He was drinking from the Doc every week, but he decided that he needed to go on a diet this week before he killed him.

[It's just reiterating what Erhard said in the library, but eh.]

He still would have been stronger than average even then, because he drank last weekend. The chapel would have messed with that, though, yeah.

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2019-04-20 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Weaknesses to holy places is common in Vampire lore, so that won't help us narrow down, but he would avoid such places - Why did he go into the Chapel?
rikuchi: (I’d give my life for you)

[personal profile] rikuchi 2019-04-20 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's really possible that he'd been looking for a place to lay down those flowers, and could've strayed nearby there by chance. Either way, I can't imagine a scenario where he'd go into the Chapel willingly.
anonnomnomnom: (I really need a new outfit.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-04-20 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He was talking about maybe putting the flowers at the chapel. He's like that.
rikuchi: (I’d give)

[personal profile] rikuchi 2019-04-20 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...That'd make sense. And if the killer were stalking him, he'd have no choice but to fight them in the chapel.
anonnomnomnom: (I really need a new outfit.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-04-20 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They knew some of their vampire lore, at least, even if the rest was really stupid.

[Like, seriously, Natsuno is not a bat.]

It was like they got it all from books.
