WEEK 4 - VENUS FLYTRAP

Another week dawned.

But after the events at the trial, more than a few people would have wanted for time to stop still.

In this game, even unshakable loyalties....could be broken.🗈

If that were the case, then what was stopping even more horrible crimes from happening this thursday night?
And they knew they could do nothing to stop it from happening.

...Still, they had to continue the game, until one or both of the Witches admitted defeat, or the game itself came to a close.

Yet, they also felt as if something might change. Some big reveal felt as if it was just around the corner....but for now, it seemed as if they had to play the waiting game.

No matter how awful that felt.

...

TAKUMI won't say this, because he likes the Witches. But if it's down to living or not, I would rather have you there to keep him from doing something too noble. Practical isn't Bad.

"Practical" is becoming less and less useful in this case, I think. The practical option in this case is one we already know leads to things going wrong.

In the first place, I don't see how we're going to manage anything unless we can get both of the witches here acknowledge both their humanity and... witchness. And even that seems like it's impossible.

Soliders are supposed to be tacticians too, right? I think you'll do okay!

Still, tactics for the battlefield is a bit different from... this kind of situation. Here we're stuck in a spot where if we fail to fight the enemy back, we'll lose everything, but we'll also lose everything if we push back too hard.

I was kind of holding out on the hope that our mysterious third party would give us some method to force a draw, but we already know they're dying.

If they really are an aspect of Nirrti, that just makes things more hurried than ever. Nirrti needs to face her other half, and she's running out of time to do so without realizing it.

It's really scary! I don't want TAKUMI to be remov

[ the text cursor blinks for a bit ]

I don't want him to die. Or any of you! Pressing too hard could be bad. But waiting too long could be bad too. It's frustrating. I wish I had good advice for you...

It's fine, you're still young. Honestly speaking, you shouldn't even be exposed to this kind of situation when you're still young.

Still, if you want advice from me, it's not going to be pleasant. The first thing one learns when being a soldier is knowing that chances are, somebody's going to end up dead. Even with my past life, what I remember most vividly of it was how she died, unable to protect anyone, surrounded by the bodies of those she couldn't save while the Arbiter laughed about it. That damn Arbiter even threw her own arm in her face.

That's how it is. Even if one wants everyone to live, someone is going to die. The only thing one can really do is try and control who it is and hope you're strong enough stop those important to you being in that list.

[Did she mean Aiba, or Takumi? Was there really a difference?]

Logically, I understand that. But the part of me that is TAKUMI wants to refuse. It's confusing.
