WEEK 4 - VENUS FLYTRAP

Another week dawned.

But after the events at the trial, more than a few people would have wanted for time to stop still.

In this game, even unshakable loyalties....could be broken.🗈

If that were the case, then what was stopping even more horrible crimes from happening this thursday night?
And they knew they could do nothing to stop it from happening.

...Still, they had to continue the game, until one or both of the Witches admitted defeat, or the game itself came to a close.

Yet, they also felt as if something might change. Some big reveal felt as if it was just around the corner....but for now, it seemed as if they had to play the waiting game.

No matter how awful that felt.

In most of the stories, aren’t imperfect robots like a failsafe so they don’t go crazy and wipe out all the humans?

[That is apparently his fictional impression of robots. He frowns a little at everything else, because that’s a whole lot of terms and things at once.]

So you’re a Sephirah with... a bunch of copies?

Well, all Sephirah periodically go through a process Angela calls 'resetting'. In short, when we're deemed incapable of working, our body is destroyed, our memories our wiped, then a new version of the Sephirah is produced according to the base specs and we're loaded into the new body.

Ah, so it's more like you're the latest generation model of "Gebura". That kind of makes sense.

[He's apparently fine with the general possible fridge horror, pausing for thought as he's still absorbing everything.]

Who's Angela? Is she the one that made you?

Ah, Angela is an actual AI. Unlike the Sephirahs, she doesn't have emotions. She was created by the same person as us, though these days she's in charge of the overall operations of L Company and operates as our creator's assistant.

Aha, so more like part of the command center. It makes sense that you wouldn't want that to have emotions.

[After all, they're supposed to scrap all the Sephirah all the time and everything.]

So how long does each model last, usually?

It varies from Sephirah to Sephirah for the most part. One of the Tiphereths is pretty unstable and breaks down every couple years or two, but the other Tiphereth's been around longer than I have, and I've been around for about a decade? She's seen a few generations of Gebura get reset, but hasn't actually given me the details. Chesed's been around longer than me too.

The Upper Sephirahs themselves tend to break down every few years, though. I don't think the Lower Sephirahs have ever been reset at all, though.

So maybe it depends on personality, huh... That makes you one of the more stable Sephirahs, then!

[His impression of Gebura is that she's a more robot robot than Wheatley is, so...?]

What's the difference between Upper and Lower Sephirah?

Well, we're mostly called that based on where in the facility it's located. You know how I referred to Gebura being a title for a part of a tree? The entire facility's designed like that tree, and each Sephirah's named after the section of the tree their "Department" would be. The Lower Sephirahs are in charge of the "bottom" of the tree, while the Upper Sephirahs are in charge of the "top" of the tree.

Me, the Tiphereths, and Chesed are all in the middle of the tree, so chances are the other Sephirahs refer to us as the "Middle Sephirahs", and it's pretty unusual for us Sephirahs to interact with Sephirahs outside of our "layer" of the tree. Tiphereth's a bit of a busybody and interacts with the Upper Sephirah quite a bit anyways, though. I think she's trying to make them more stable? She did the same thing with me when I was 'younger', too.

Wow, whoever built your facility really liked trees, huh? Which doesn't make any sense for why they'd go into a career just making metal things, but the whole place sounds kind of weird, anyway.

[One, he has zero room to talk about anyone else being weird and dos, it's probably not all that much weirder than the Foundation. But the incredibly thematic naming seems to be either intriguing him or throwing him off.]

Does being in different parts of the tree mean you get reset less, or more, or do you guys just have a few people who are more stable, or is it all just because Tiphereth's there fixing everything?
