WEEK 4 - VENUS FLYTRAP

Another week dawned.

But after the events at the trial, more than a few people would have wanted for time to stop still.

In this game, even unshakable loyalties....could be broken.🗈

If that were the case, then what was stopping even more horrible crimes from happening this thursday night?
And they knew they could do nothing to stop it from happening.

...Still, they had to continue the game, until one or both of the Witches admitted defeat, or the game itself came to a close.

Yet, they also felt as if something might change. Some big reveal felt as if it was just around the corner....but for now, it seemed as if they had to play the waiting game.

No matter how awful that felt.

[He totally lets out a little cheer and pumps his fist in the air because that was in fact a guess — a semi-educated guess, but still.]

That was a pretty good challenge, though! I bet you would have stumped most other people, but I at least know there’s more than one Chaos Emerald.
chaoscontrol: (shut up I'm listening)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-04-18 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmph. It's actually wrong for two reasons. I bet you can't guess the other!
anonnomnomnom: (Can you eat it?)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-04-18 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, that’s harder. I don’t know a lot about time travel.

[He’s absolutely up for this, though, good-humored from his win.]

Does it have to do with the movement through time? Like you can only go backwards?
chaoscontrol: (crouched low)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-04-18 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No. You can go forwards and backwards. [Shadow seems a bit more cheerful now that he's at least temporarily stumped Anon, so he offers a hint;] I will tell you, it has something to do with the names of the emeralds.
anonnomnomnom: (I'm not that great. Really!)

... Chaos Emeralds! You just get thrown to random points in time!

[You can almost see the metaphorical pink tail wagging when the lightbulb goes on.]
chaoscontrol: (amused!)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-04-18 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
More or less. It's not "random". It's sort of... where you "need" to be, not necessarily where you want to be.
anonnomnomnom: (My what a nice sword you have.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-04-18 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I see! So, have you ever gotten stuck in time before?
chaoscontrol: (I'm a hero)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-04-18 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No. I stay where I am for the most part -- messing with time seems a lot like playing with fire.
anonnomnomnom: (I'm not that great. Really!)

That's what everyone and all the books say. You shouldn't change the past, because you might change things to the point where you don't exist, or the Earth doesn't exist, or ice cream doesn't exist either.

[One of those things is not like the others, pls.]

The Chaos Emeralds are pretty dangerous, huh...

Oh, wait, doesn't that mean that if you had all seven, you could technically fire your extinction ray through space and time?
chaoscontrol: (snaps)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-04-19 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Or you just create a branching timeline that has no effect on your own time at all... Or it's stable in the first place because in every timeline, you go back in time to do those same things. There's just too many "what ifs" for me.

[Shadow grins, and it's a dark smile]

Probably.
