WEEK 4 - VENUS FLYTRAP

Another week dawned.

But after the events at the trial, more than a few people would have wanted for time to stop still.

In this game, even unshakable loyalties....could be broken.🗈

If that were the case, then what was stopping even more horrible crimes from happening this thursday night?
And they knew they could do nothing to stop it from happening.

...Still, they had to continue the game, until one or both of the Witches admitted defeat, or the game itself came to a close.

Yet, they also felt as if something might change. Some big reveal felt as if it was just around the corner....but for now, it seemed as if they had to play the waiting game.

No matter how awful that felt.

[Kurama is around and about a bit. He spends some time in the kitchen, mostly because he doesn't want to become Holmes and Erhard. Eating matters.

He also spends some time around the gardens. Venus flytraps...?]

Not really poisonous but I'm not certain predatory is better.

[But...ahaha... A lot of his time is spent just sitting on the balcony railing.]

[ Syaoran's in a kimono today, so he can be heard first before he's seen in the kitchen. Especially given that he's one of the cooks here. ] Ah, Kurama-san. I'm not bothering you, am I. . .?

[Kurama glances up from the food he's more picking at than eating. The smile he offers Syaoran is...a shred less convincing than they were before the last trial.]

No, of course not.

[ Syaoran's own smile matches Kurama's in an attempt to be reassuring. ]

Mind if I join you in that case? It's probably not good to be by yourself in a situation like this.

I'm afraid I'm not very good company at the moment, Syaoran-kun, but you're welcome to join me.

That's alright. I think that it's better than being alone. [ After all, Kimihiro's problem lies with that too, doesn't it? And he wants to help. Or at least try to. ] I don't want anyone to be in pain because of that.

There's a certain purity to you, Syaoran-kun, that I occasionally find enviable.

[His expression is faintly wistful before he finally takes an actual bite of his food.]

I've been told that before. One of my abilities can only be used because I'm 'pure of heart', apparently.

What about you? I know you're close to Watanuki-san, and this last trial was not easy on him.

[Holmes was outside, a stroll and then a smoke break, noticing something in the gardens. The man kneels, and seems to be messing with it - and it soon becomes obvious why as he held a bumblebee in the palm of his hand, the little insect bumbling until it regained it's senses and flew away]

Well it seems to be more harmful to the local wildlife than the plants from the last few weeks.

We all need to eat, plants included.

[There is, admittedly, a certain dry tinge to the comment. Considering who he's talking to.]

I am getting plenty of food, thank you - a little too much actually.

[Which he's been trying to foist on Erhard]

That might be because you worried people, Holmes.

[The amusement is distant and half-hearted but it's better than nothing. Kurama idly kneels down to check on the state of the plants]

They pester you because they care.

I think I prefer the Kalmia better.

[ He's not a fan of anything that looks too creepy and he's not getting anywhere near that, either. ]

I preferred the mugwort. Not poisonous, not predatory, and actually medicinal.

[Sigh.]

They have to signify something.

Any luck finding any around here?

[ Honestly, with the assortment here it might be like a mini rain forest if there were actually a ton of trees in the garden too. ]

And you think there's a deeper meaning to Kalmia and the other...flower being so close to each other?

It's what was in the garden the second week. Artemisia, or mugwort. I harvested some of it to make painkillers and fever reducers. Just in case.

[Kurama sighs quietly, running a hand through his hair.]

I think there are deeper meanings to a great deal of this that we haven't figured out yet.

I don't make a habit of coming in here too often. Just stopped by in the first week.

[ To grab some Kalmia for his room. They were nice enough to have sitting around for a bit.

...Though Kurama's other answer almost makes him quirk hips itno a wry smile. ]

When this first started I'd thought it'd be at least more simpler than this. Should've known better, I suppose.

I take it gardening isn't one of your interests, then.

[It's good humored, though not as playful as it might have been a week ago.]

In all fairness, it would not be hard to be simpler than this.

Not at all. Didn't do much gardening back when I was on the islands either.

Well, it's not for everyone. I fell into it somewhat by default.

[Kurama idly brushes a finger along the stem of one of the flytraps.]

...a part of me worries that these are a warning.

What do you mean? What kind of warning?

[ Riku hovers closer to the white flowers, seriously not intent on nearing the more dangerous-looking ones. ]

Venus flytraps are predatory snares for insects. That wouldn't make for a pleasant parallel.
