Another week dawned.

But after the events at the trial, more than a few people would have wanted for time to stop still.

In this game, even unshakable loyalties....could be broken.🗈

If that were the case, then what was stopping even more horrible crimes from happening this thursday night?
And they knew they could do nothing to stop it from happening.

...Still, they had to continue the game, until one or both of the Witches admitted defeat, or the game itself came to a close.

Yet, they also felt as if something might change. Some big reveal felt as if it was just around the corner....but for now, it seemed as if they had to play the waiting game.

No matter how awful that felt.

That's how it reads to me as well... but the fact "It has to be contained" catches my attention.

I felt her magic before, when I told her about the epitaph. It felt like. . . a curse. That might be relevant to all of this.

A curse would most certainly be something you don't want to spread.

Yeah. That's why I think that Kimihiro might have had the right intentions in that dream. But it backfired on him and made him become like that.

As Gebura said, it would be best to prevent that situation from happening in the first place. We should see if the nature of the 'curse' can be found out while we're working on the other pieces.

Yeah. After all, it's not set in stone yet. We can still change things.

But right now it feels like we're floundering in the dark. Nirrti has a clear advantage over us. We're on her turf, she has her powers while ours are sealed, and the game is a constant threat. And when we think we have her cornered....

[The way he glances at Holmes speaks volumes.]

You're right. There's still so much that we just simply don't know. But even if the Witch may have an advantage over us, that doesn't mean that we can't turn things around on her. We can't just simply become pessimistic because it looks like we're grasping at straws.

And we can't forge ahead blindly without a solid plan. She's proven she can and will hold back until she can throw all our mistakes back at us at once. She's not afraid of us at all.

And I'm not afraid of her, either. [ He says those words firmly. ] I spoke about my thoughts on strategies during the trials yesterday and I agree: we can't just shoot our darts wildly otherwise people will get hurt. Or even worse.

The Blue isn't a guaranteed weapon against her, she's proven that. But without it, we can't get any confirmation of our theories. That's another huge strike against us.

That's not necessarily true. You can get Red out of her without having to use the Blue. You can get her to say statements in Red, and if she refuses, you have to think why she refused in the first place. The Red might be powerful, but that doesn't mean she can't be toppled. We just have to play smarter.

And she can refuse simply on the basis of misleading us, she's done it before.

The other question is, do we present a united front, or do we take her on from different angles at once and hope to trip her up?

Well, in the end, it burned out of control anyway.

As curses tend to do in most tales.

So, what, she's just a walking curse of some kind... Hmm.

[He seems thoughtful about it for a moment, and then shrugs.]

Well, it wouldn't be the weirdest thing to come out of this Game. So we just need to stuff the curse into a container that isn't Watanuki, right?

It sounds funny to say you're going to break the concept of Misfortune, or whatever.

It does sound kind of like fun, though.

If it doesn't end up causing dangerous ramifications, since that does not seem to be a title anyone should be having if we're right and the title causes that corruption.

Are you sure it's not the other way around? Maybe the title's the thing containing the corruption!

Honestly, that might be possible as well.

[And it would make 'misfortune' have multiple meanings for the one who holds it]

Misfortune is a pretty basic part of the world, after all. I wonder if there’s a Witch of Fortune out there? Maybe we just need to slap them together.
