WEEK 4 - VENUS FLYTRAP

Another week dawned.

But after the events at the trial, more than a few people would have wanted for time to stop still.

In this game, even unshakable loyalties....could be broken.🗈

If that were the case, then what was stopping even more horrible crimes from happening this thursday night?
And they knew they could do nothing to stop it from happening.

...Still, they had to continue the game, until one or both of the Witches admitted defeat, or the game itself came to a close.

Yet, they also felt as if something might change. Some big reveal felt as if it was just around the corner....but for now, it seemed as if they had to play the waiting game.

No matter how awful that felt.

I think you're right that the girl is related to the Witch, but. . . then that begs the question as to why she wants our help. For us to hear her story.

They might not be the same person any more. Like how Watanuki and WATANUKI [he uses finger quotes for the Witch] are separate names. Am I making sense?

...So wait. The person who's giving the disks is Nirrti, but is a separate entity... Who is... also a witch, considering that they seem to also be using demons...

It's certainly possible, and something like this is not unheard of... it's too soon to say what is going on with this other person.

I don't think the separate entity is a Witch, though. At least... not if my understanding is correct.

Hm? We definitely had demons, though, didn't we? Even if they were possessing someone, they have to have come from somewhere.

But the demons don't necessarily need to be summoned by a witch, do they?

How did they get here, then?

I wouldn't know. . . I'm not an expert on demons. At least, not the ones from this world. But in stories, you don't have to be a witch to summon a demon.

Of course, that doesn't mean that is the case or not. I just don't think we should make too many assumptions when we don't have a lot of evidence to back it up.

At the same time, most demons I've heard of can't show up on their own. they need some sort of catalyst to come through. It seems like aside from the goats here, the "catalyst" is the person they're using as a host, but that still ends up with the problem of: "How did that person get here?"

...I wish we had something to work with here...

Do you think that maybe the library might have something about demon summoning that could possibly give us any answers?

[Hmm... Gebura thinks about it for a few minutes... It couldn't be that simple, could it...? But it also could...]

...It's worth a try, at least? I'm not sure we'll actually find anything, buy we're stuck here anyways, so it's not like we don't have time.

This is all pretty confusing, and I still don't really get most of the stuff about Witches, but weren't Watanuki and WATANUKI a Piece and a Witch? I don't think the ghost is a Piece, buuut...

Okay so, in my world we have two layers of real. The "real" world and the "digital" world. Using a digivice you can scan your mental data, copy it, and upload it to the digital world.

[he grabs some paper and doodles two stick figures with a line between them. One side marked "real world" and the other marked "digital world" ]

You don't travel there in the literal sense. It's more like a projection or even double of yourself. If something happens to one the other can still exist...

[he looks grim for a moment. Clearly he's seen this happen before]

But they're both "you". Just you in different ideas of "reality".

That actually reminds me of the Sleeping Realms. In the Sleeping Realms, they hold on to a memory of the worlds and the people there from before the fell to darkness. The King was there, but before he was a King. He was also still okay in realm of light- er. The normal realm!

I think I understand.

In my world there's something similar. Someone I knew once had their body and soul split. Their soul went into a dream while their body was in another world.

I think the situation here is a little different from that. . . and in a way, it's probably close to what you said. But I think the fundamental difference is that they're not entire copies of each other.

I'll use myself and Kimihiro as examples. You said that the Kimihiro we knew from the first two weeks and the one we know now are different -- but I don't think it's to the same extent as what's going on here. I think it's more like how Kimihiro and I are different. We share the same existence but we split off and had different experiences.

I think another possibility was that the girl and the Witch were once the same entity as one point. . . But when she found it convenient to blame things on, she ripped her Witch self from her Human self.

Of course, these are all just theories.

So there might be a bunch of different things going on here! I don't totally get Takumi's world either, but because I've swallowed him before I can kind of get the gist.

There are probably all kinds of different realities... Truths? Going on here. And, the Witch and the girl might be separate, but they might also both be a part of this Game if the demons are anything to go by!

Oh, and Nirrti really wants us to agree with her about Witches. Maybe what she's after has something to do with how Witches work?

I think it's possible that it has to deal with different realities. But I'm never going to agree with her definition of Witches. Not all Witches have to be cruel like she says.

The courtroom's a place of its own, after all. I'd guess, so is the haunted book. It's a little different from the Fragments... Honestly, it gets more confusing all the time.

You can say that you won't agree with her all you want, but think about it: just like the Blue Truths, if most people don't agree with you, then it might not matter. I wonder if that's something that could happen here.

We can make the Witches speak in the Red outside of trials, right? Do you think we could possibly use that in some way that could help us...?

Well, 'making' is kind of a strong word. They can do it, but unless there's some kind of trick to getting them to do it...

That's true. I might be able to convince Kimihiro to say something in Red for me, but I don't know about the other Witch.

He throws it around a lot more than Nirrti, huh? Then again, Nirrti doesn't exactly visit much. It's too bad!
