WEEK 3 INVESTIGATION

Three weeks had gone by, and even with the other Witch being revealed, Friday came.

Waking up on this day began to feel like the prelude to something horrible.

To a horrible sight...and some kind of deep betrayal, knowing that one of them had ended the lives of someone they'd been speaking and laughing with just the day before...🗈

...But, they had no choice. This was the game, and it had to be played - set in motion by the pair of Witches.

No matter how they felt, they had to search, to gaze upon cruel death in it's many forms.

No matter....how dear the person once was to them, today...they would be nothing but a corpse to gleam clues from, in preparation for the trial.

And so...they had to push forward. Forward...to find a terrible truth.

I can see the future in my dreams. But it's not 'that is how it will be for certain' futures. It's 'this is what is likely to happen, should things not change' futures.

If Erhard-sensei saw one of those dreams, then that might explain things. They're usually pretty dark, since they're meant to be warnings.

[Shadow massages his temples. He feels a headache coming on]

[He...could use magic and be Extra, but. Instead he just grabs some paper from a nearby table and writes down a few kanji:]

[For anyone who can read moon runes, it says 'Prophet'. aka 'Kimihiro'.]

...oh, so that's how it's written.

With your family name it legit reads like your parents just being proud they predicted your birthday right.

It's not my birth name, Takumi-kun.

[he just looks at her, then at Watanuki, then at the jumble of lines that is apparently a word]

They're right, though. Names are a pain.

It's never too early in this bullshit murder mansion.

I can't read that, you realize. Is that your name?

[And then, after a pause, he writes another:]

That's how you would write 'Shadow'.

[Shadow frowns at the kanji. It's neat looking, but--]

It's so complex. How do you remember where all the parts go? Is there a symbol like this for every word?

We have a writing system that goes by syllables too, but most adults use characters like this, yeah. There's several thousand you need to know for everyday use, though people tend to forget the more technical ones.

[Shadow doesn't say anything, but his facial expression and the position of his ears seems to imply he finds that pretty impressive]

Haha, so there's definitely something to it.

[He is taking this as a he was totally right on some level.]

[He nods. It makes sense. He's connected to Syaoran and his mother could do similar things. It must be a family trait]

So not a 'I am thinking of doing this' but a 'this could happen'.

Yeah. Sometimes they come true, but sometimes by seeing them I can change enough that they don't come true. Or I can at least tell others who can do the changes instead.

So we have to make sure that you don't take on both titles.

...speaking of, if something DOES happen to Nirrti, have you considered what will happen to her title? Something like that shouldn't be left sitting around for any Witch to just grab like she tried with yours.

That's what happens though. Someone else takes the title once a witch dies. If Nirrti dies, her title will be up for grabs.

But if someone grabs it and is, I dunno, super evil, we could be right back where we started! Or worse!

Probably, yeah. If she does die, we would need some kind of long-term containment.
