Three weeks had gone by, and even with the other Witch being revealed, Friday came.

Waking up on this day began to feel like the prelude to something horrible.

To a horrible sight...and some kind of deep betrayal, knowing that one of them had ended the lives of someone they'd been speaking and laughing with just the day before...🗈

...But, they had no choice. This was the game, and it had to be played - set in motion by the pair of Witches.

No matter how they felt, they had to search, to gaze upon cruel death in it's many forms.

No matter....how dear the person once was to them, today...they would be nothing but a corpse to gleam clues from, in preparation for the trial.

And so...they had to push forward. Forward...to find a terrible truth.

[Erhard does not like that calm tone, though for the longest time he himself was emotionless in the face of death.]

You don't care about us as anything more than your "pieces," do you? There isn't a shred of remorse in your voice.

[And rather suddenly, Watanuki scowls and snaps at Erhard.]

Maybe because it's easier to put on a neutral face and try to explain things than it is to stop and think about how one of the few people who's actually been nice to me is now dead? And here I thought a doctor would get that different people deal with trauma in different ways.

[Erhard actually winces at that, anger instantly melting away. Watanuki just hit hard on one of the few insecurities he has about his skills as a doctor, his one weak spot: his apparent lack of emotions. It never bothered him before, but now....]

I'm sorry, Watanuki. You're right. I... I'm still trying to understand these things.
