week one afterparty ★ where is this warmth going? when it's tomorrow, it'll vanish

The day had ended on a rather solemn note, with not just one innocent dead, but two.

Both the Great Detective, Erika Furudo and the magical girl known as Cure Aqua, Karen Minazuki were killed in cold blood, and all that was left behind was a pool of blood that acknowledged their deaths. And yet, in spite of that, they had to move forward... 🗈

Of course, in spite of the lingering feeling that hung in the air, the possible suspicion that would probably stick through them for the rest of their stay here, if not for the rest of their lives.

Being used to death, he knew very well the sting of having blood on your own hands. He understood too well the consequences. But he didn't want people to simply just blame themselves for something that wasn't entirely their fault.

Which is why after a while, he goes on ahead to search people out to tell them that if they would prefer not to be alone, they can come to the dining room and that there will be food. For those who stay in their rooms, however, they'll find a neatly handwritten letter:

To the one who might read this:

We're dealing with a difficult time and I know that because of this turn of events, that people might start to distrust one another and even make the decision to not face the future. But I don't want to hide and run away from our present; I want all of us to face the reality and change the future so that it isn't a sad one. I'm certain that the two that we lost would not want that from us, either.

Feel free to meet me in the dining room if you wish to mourn, or if you'd wish to not face all of this alone. Nobody deserves to be alone on a day like this. Food will be provided. Don't force yourself to come, though.

    - Syaoran

Set up in the dining area are a lot of various comfort foods - a lot of soup based dishes, kebabs, hot pots, you name it. Even if the times are difficult, especially with the results, at the very least there's a small glimmer hope, right...?

I'm sure plenty of people think I was the culprit now. If I show up here acting so casually so soon after what happened to Karen, I think it will just make a lot of them uncomfortable..
anonnomnomnom: (I'm not that great. Really!)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-31 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
... Ohhh, that's a good point!

[Said as if this has just occurred to him, and mid-bite of what looks like some deliciously sauteed vegetable somethings. He blinks at her for a couple moments, and then looks around the room as though taking in the atmosphere for the first time. Hmm.

Well, there are some other people eating, at least.]

But if you hide, that'll also look bad, won't it? Like you're totally feeling guilty or something. I think it's really better to face these things head-on.

[Is that why he's here. Does he have that level of self-awareness. Questionable.]
youkaiwatch: (you also get some doilies)

It's not really looking guilty that I'm concerned about, though if it was, that wouldn't be bad advice.

[ It's interesting; his youthful energy had reminded her a little of Fuurouta before, but they really aren't that similar at all. Fuurouta had taken it hard when he'd seen the negative impact his actions had had on someone else. Being able to just accept the unsavory consequences and move on without reflection takes a very different kind of person. ]

I don't think I ever asked... Do you consider yourself a human?
anonnomnomnom: (What a moron.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-31 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm? So what are you concerned about?

[He seems completely at sea on this one!

And indeed, he doesn't seem to have particularly reflected on the events of the past day in any regular sense -- nothing's really changed in his demeanor or his behavior. He just seems a little hungrier than usual. Emi's question gets a raise of an eyebrow and then a peal of laughter.]

You know, that's a really weird question! Why would I consider myself a human?

It's more about respecting everyone else's wishes, but don't worry about it.

[ She's pretty sure he won't.

She takes a sip of her drink. ]

You're shaped like one most of the time. That's enough for some people.
anonnomnomnom: (My what a nice sword you have.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-31 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I get it! Everyone sure freaked out a lot today, they're probably tired of it by now.

[Maybe he does get it?? (Very maybe.)

But yeah, he ain't going to worry about it. Emi's an odd bird in her own right but she seems about on par with the rest of the adults here and those he knows. If they want to all drink themselves into oblivion that just means less people around to harsh the groove, probably.

All the same:]

Ah, I see. Well, people can be pretty small-minded -- all kinds of people, not just humans, even though they probably live in the smallest world of all! [he gives an amused little grin] Judging anyone by their shape is pretty dumb, but it's even funnier if it's people like me.

Ah... I meant more in terms of self-categorization. Someone close to me considered himself a "normal human" when hardly anyone else did, and when he really was far from it.

I agree with you, though.
anonnomnomnom: (Wish I had the talent to study.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-04-01 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
A normal human... That's pretty foolish. But it happens a lot with people where I come from too, if they've grown up with humans. They have trouble accepting themselves as anything else, even when all the humans around them are rejecting them.

You'd think they'd give up after a while, you know?

[He shakes his head, looking a little chagrined as though all those unfortunate so-called fools are students failing a test or something??]
