WEEK 1 TRIAL
It was noon on Saturday.
No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.
The world...began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards another, much larger world...🗈

This new world looked like...the inside of an ornate courtroom, like something that wouldn't be too far from some kind of grand fantasy novel. The audience was full of people with Goat Heads...like some kind of bizzare trial proceedings.
The Witch - Yuuko - was there, sitting in the most important place, smiling in her mysterious way at everyone. There was no music to be heard, but... perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.
As they looked around, they might have also been surprised to see that their forms had changed - perhaps only slightly, or a much more dramatic change. It seemed like this place demanded a different form in some way, even if it was just a change of clothing.
...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.
Yesterday had been the start of the game. But now, armed with all they knew...now, they had to truly go up against the Witch, and somehow.....win.
Right?

Right?

Yeah... I know.
[ There's a brief moment of struggling... ]
None of that was your fault.
no subject
[Even while holding a sobbing terrified girl he was paying attention. Heard what Yuuko said: Anon won because he had more people supporting his version of the Truth.
Takumi doesn't say where his "vote" lay, but he doesn't have to.]
no subject
I'm not lying.
[ One hand firmly rests on his shoulder now. ]
We're being forced into these things. We... played our part in that trial, but the trial happening, at all, isn't your fault.
[ He's squeezing that shoulder. ]
You would have done everything you could to save her, right? [ a little more quietly, but no less full of belief: ] And you did what you could to comfort her.

I... can't even say I blame the real culprit. We ... they just did what they thought they had to, to get home or get their wish. We do the same thing every time we take out an SCP that can think and feel.
Heh, maybe that's why Yuuko-san picked that fragment to take us from.
no subject
... You think so?
[ Akira's lips press together tightly for a moment. ]
In the end, do you think you'd feel much better if it had been the real killer? Or even someone who worked to voluntarily put themselves into the position of getting executed?
[ He clenches his teeth for a moment. Then, in a... fairly calm, but firmly determined voice: ]
Because, I don't know about you, but I'm going to be pouring everything I've got into stopping this thing altogether.
no subject
[He not going to call Akira out on "voluntarily put themselves into the position of getting executed" because... he's thought the same thing. Considered the same options.
But still, that tone... he looks at him with open respect.]
Good. So am I.
no subject
I'm glad.
[ There's a pause. ]
I'm gonna make us something to drink. Anything you want, in particular?
