WEEK 1 MINGLE - KALMIA

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here - the Witch of Dimensions, Yuuko.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request - and the tv in the Sitting Room - to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Despite being told someone will die, it...felt remarkably peaceful. Could one of their own really be able to kill someone?

...Or, maybe...this is just the silence that comes just before a massive storm breaks, and sweeps away everything...

No, I just think you're a really good actress.

[Like, actually? Probably?? He grins.]

I think I've heard of something like that. It's like a prank where somebody moves everything in your house a couple of inches to the right, while they're borrowing your house. That's pretty much what Yuuko was doing, huh?

Context, context... So, the context of Witches kidnapping people to really luxurious tropical islands to make them kill each other for a wish?

Then you are mistaken. I am not an actress at all. I am as genuine as they come.

Not quite. The wishes is an anomaly, really. [shrugs]

What do you first think of when you think of witches?
anonnomnomnom: (What a moron.)

A genuine... detective, right? Like in the mystery novels.

[He was paying attention! Mostly because both she and Ruler were very, very showy about announcing themselves at each other. Mostly Erika. It was mostly Erika.]

Wishes aren't an anomaly where I come from, though. So maybe because Yuuko is a Witch of Dimensions, she decided to just put together a bunch of games to make one big blob.

[It's not that bad. He takes a split-second to ruminate witches--]

Brooms!

Good. It seems you have a basic cognizance of the situation you are in, and my role in it.

Truly? Push that aside for the moment. We will deal with it later. For now, let me hear your answer.

[...]

Seriously?

It would be hard not to have some basic idea! You're really diligent about introducing yourself, after all, Great Detective.

[There's probably a shit-eating grin here somewhere.]

We-ell, this really is my first time meeting any kind of Witch face-to-face. I've only read about them, so that's all I've got. I'm sure you've got a lot more ideas, right?

And from all this supposed 'reading' about witches, what stuck out most in your mind is just 'brooms'? Not even 'broom-riding'? [tsk tsks.]

Rather than some inane tertiary association with a cleaning object, wouldn't it stand to reason a witch's essential characteristic would be the use of magic? That if you had a witch who did not use magic, you wouldn't have much use to call her a 'witch'?

Brooms covers everything from broom-riding to broom animation to broom slaves!

[He's working hard! Maybe.]

Hmm, well, it depends on how you define magic, I guess. There's some people who would call really advanced technology a type of magic! Or science that we don't understand yet. Or just any kind of power or ability that they don't understand.

Come to think of it, that's probably why we're all sealed. What a pain.

You may have a point, somewhere in there... but this isn't a science-fiction story. Extremely complicated or theoretical scientific factors may be ignored.

Let's use your 'broom slave' association as an example. Let's say you observed a person in a dusty uncleaned room. There's a single broom with them. You leave for a while and come back. The person you spied is still there, and so is the broom, but the room is now clean. When you ask her "Why is the room clean?" She answers: "I used my magic to make the broom come to life and clean it, as my slave."

What would you think?
anonnomnomnom: (What a moron.)

Okay, so if we're ignoring everything complicated and going with the fastest possible route...

Of course I'd ask the person to do it again! It sounds like it was really cool, if she could actually do it!
