WEEK 1 MINGLE - KALMIA

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here - the Witch of Dimensions, Yuuko.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request - and the tv in the Sitting Room - to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Despite being told someone will die, it...felt remarkably peaceful. Could one of their own really be able to kill someone?

...Or, maybe...this is just the silence that comes just before a massive storm breaks, and sweeps away everything...

Well, the person I'm making it for hasn't really specified any preferences... and as for the kind of food that I like, I'm actually not all that notoriously picky. I grew up in a Japanese-Chinese household, but I've also eaten a lot of food from various different countries and enjoyed those, so I don't really take issue with much.
clearumbrella: mask, attention grabbed, surprised (oh is it true?)

Ah, and you're having problems because neither of you are picky! I think I understand. [ Since taste is important to comfort food, if you don't care about taste then it's hard to decide. He nods along with his thoughts. ]

If it's comfort food, then shouldn't it be congee, okayu, or ochazuke?

Well, in Japan, probably. I don't know what country she's from herself. And back home, sometimes I'd have noodle soup when I was sick, or sometimes it'd be okayu.

But other countries have different comfort foods, so it makes it... a little difficult.
clearumbrella: mask, cheerful (it was never warm like this)

Yes, I'm well acquainted with many types of dishes from different regions! But without knowing where this person is from, it's safest to use a plain dish or something you're familiar with making.

[ Hm... hm... ] Would you like to hear more options anyway?

i'll keep that in mind. Worst case scenario is that she'll send it back uneaten and I'll have to eat it myself.

[ Which

he really hopes isn't the case. ]

I'd at least like to hear more options. It'll allow me to give a variety to what I can cook for the future, if not right now.
clearumbrella: mask, neutral (the lonely world never cares)

[personal profile] clearumbrella 2019-03-27 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll think of some options right away!

[ He says that and proceeds to just... stand here. He's probably thinking. ]

. . .

[ It's okay he

he can wait ]
clearumbrella: mask, ? (so it won't hurt)

[personal profile] clearumbrella 2019-03-27 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It takes maybe a minute, or at least it feels like a minute, but he eventually speaks up again. ]

Would borscht, goulash, arroz caldo, kare-kare, laksa, or rice custard be acceptable?

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-27 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... I think it would. Although, I don't know how to cook some of those, so I'd have to look for a cookbook.
clearumbrella: mask, flowers (divided from happiness)

[personal profile] clearumbrella 2019-03-27 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't? [ ... ] Then let's go to the library, I can help you find one!

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-27 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'd really appreciate it - the library will definitely be useful for learning new things.
clearumbrella: mask, sparkle (i never knew life as it is)

[personal profile] clearumbrella 2019-03-27 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Grandpa taught me that if you don't know something, you can always learn it from a book.

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-27 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
He must have been smart to say something like that. Books are pretty good ways to learn things, after all.
clearumbrella: mask, happy (is this where i belong?)

[personal profile] clearumbrella 2019-03-27 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. He taught me many things about the world and other people.

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-27 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
What kinds of things did he specifically teach you about?
clearumbrella: mask, cheerful (it was never warm like this)

[personal profile] clearumbrella 2019-03-27 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Specifically? Most of it was things he was interested in. Like jellyfish and... [ A beat. Then he hard segues to something else. ] Anyway, he also taught me where to go if I ever got lost.

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-27 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Jellyfish, huh... it's been a while since I've actually seen jellyfish. I wonder if we can find some on the island.

[ He's now admittedly curious, and it shows in his voice. ]

I see. Anyway-- [ Syaoran steps into the library first, peering around. ] --we're here, so let's find some cookbooks.
