All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here - the Witch of Dimensions, Yuuko.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request - and the tv in the Sitting Room - to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Despite being told someone will die, it...felt remarkably peaceful. Could one of their own really be able to kill someone?

...Or, maybe...this is just the silence that comes just before a massive storm breaks, and sweeps away everything...

Well... I wasn't trying to. I thought I was being sneaky, and you surprised me.

You can't really sneak up on bullets, you know.

[ Emi turns the gun over and looks at it for a moment, then pushes her thumb up on the loading ramp and against the spring to eject the first round... and then repeats for the rest of the rounds loaded in the magazine.

(If I am fucking this up just assume she's doing it right lmao, I just got this from Youtube videos just now because wtf do I know about guns.)

ANYWAY, you sure were messing with a loaded gun there, kiddo. ]

[a shiver definitely goes down her spine at that. she didn't think it would actually be loaded?]

Oh my god, it was actually loaded?!

[she needs... to sit down. And so she does, on the bed.]

I don't think anyone would have even gotten a wish out of that one.

[ It's teasing, but spoken in a gentle tone with a smile as she puts the now unloaded gun back up in its place on the wall. ]

I guess this wasn't part of your training at the Foundation.

Nah. I'm more of a magic user. Mostly healing, for what they wanted from me, but being immune to fire had its uses too.

[ She'll sit down next to her for a minute. ]

I don't really do this kind of thing either. We just cooperated with armed military organizations sometimes back home, so I picked some things up.

Armed military, huh...? What kinda world were you from?

My home was pretty similar to the place we all ended up, honestly. But it's always been really nice to hear about everyone else's home worlds.

I think it was pretty similar to most of yours in some ways, but ours had all kinds of superhumans, good and bad, and a lot of social and political tensions as a result.

[ She doesn't really label things "good" or "bad" and sees it as much more of a continuous spectrum, really, but it's easier to explain this way. ]

I worked for an organization that registered and protected superhumans. It wasn't the same as the Foundation, but it was similar sometimes.

Superhumans... you mean like Sentai?! Ahhh, I don't know much about that, but I learned a little via osmosis.

Tell me more about your organization!

There were some you could describe that way, but they're much more diverse than that. Pretty much any human with a special ability counted. They didn't have to be heroes or villains.

[ So... not really. ]

It was a small one. For most of its history, it was just five of us, though we added two more members later on.

[ And then... lost some... ]

But a small organization could protect humans with special abilities?

[she'll come back to the more diverse part later. It feels like something that could be its own line of discussion]

We did what we could to help get society to accept them. For a long time the government refused to acknowledge the existence of superhumans at all, and would alter the news stories to make it seem like there were mundane explanations for everything that happened. Things have changed a lot.

[ Not always for the better, and they weren't always protecting. ]

Change can mean a lot of things. Was it for the better?
