Perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.
Only this time....this was the last time they would be competing. This was the final week...and the final chance they had at securing their wishes - while denying someone theirs.
...Just a little more to go.

Feeling like you're dying hurts enough. Yet, I wound up saying some [ Takashi word time ] shitty things to him, both during it and not long after he came back. He offered to help me both before and after I killed him, and all I wanted to do was shut him up because I--
[ Jawline... tightening, both hands curling into fists, breaths coming out a little more rapidly...? Sure, let's do that instead of finishing that. He's letting out a slightly bitter laugh. ]
You... really want someone like me for a friend, idiot?
[ Now, he's looking at the floor. ]

[ Settling on looking serious for a moment as he puts his hands on his hips. ]
Yeah, I do.
[ There's a lot he can say. Maybe there's a lot he should share as to why he's okay with a lot of things, but... the trial is going on still. ]
Ask me again later to see if I change my mind.

You're as stubborn as he is. [ rolling his eyes ] No wonder you two work well together.
[ And then there's a quiet huff-like sigh. ]
Maybe I will.

I'm used to working well with others. Part of the job.
[ There's just something he's not sure if he can figure out there with the possibility of working well with Riku. It's one of those unspoken things that should remain that way...
He does step closer to Vanitas though to grab a hold of his top. Maybe if he physically tethers him, then he can maybe relax a little? ]
I'll hold you to that.
