It was noon on Friday.

No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.

The world began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards the world they'd experienced once before. 🗈

Perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

Their forms, just like before, were different now. This was less shocking than it was last time, and yet...

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.

Only this time....this was the last time they would be competing. This was the final week...and the final chance they had at securing their wishes - while denying someone theirs.

...Just a little more to go.

The only power I have is my summoning and I can't summon anything else until the Goat levels up so... no surprise second critters from me.

Ah, the baby goat! How is he doing, anyway?

He's doing good- assuming someone feeding him weird things doesn't make him sick - he hasn't leveled up yet, but without low level monsters to fight that's probably not going to change.

I left him with the big goats. He doesn't need to be running around with Red Truths flying around.

Leveling up... so just growing stronger? That does sound safest for him, though.

Pretty much. It's how monsters grow up- once he reaches a certain level he could jump in age a few years. I still don't get exactly how they dole out levels, but that's the basic idea.

Er... It grows physically by defeating things?

[overlordad]

Yeah. It's weird. My son Taddy went from a tadpole to a full grown man in like, a week.

[Hmm...]

How many things do they usually have to defeat to grow?

[overlordad]

For the first level it takes about six goblins.

Before you ask: I doubt Lunafreya would be enough even for the first level. She's worth more than a goblin for sure, but it's not like she's a Boss or something.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. So for now, it can't be entirely ruled out.

That's fair. Looks like Jack saw him after the murder in my room (and fed him weird things), so he can confirm that he's still a baby.

He's definitely a baby. You should have seen how cute Vanitas was with him.

His mouth was clean and there wasn't any blood on him.

And what exactly where you two doing in my room?

Haha. He wanted to check the kid, and I followed him in to make sure he wasn't kidnapping.

I saw the small bite marks on her body and went to have a look at the kid's mouth, just so we'd have someone who isn't biased able to confirm.

His mouth was totally clean.

[She's thinking, but she doesn't voice thoughts yet, just listens. And:]

Will you keep him once you leave?

[They have no idea how much of all this is going to stick around, after all.]

If I can. He's my responsibility.

Like your other children. Perhaps we should have had you check the bite marks.

[Who knows bite marks better than daddy summoner? No one.]

I mean, I definitely would recognize the bites if I saw them and they were his. But he was with me all night- unless someone snuck him out while we were passed out.

It wouldn't be the first time someone invaded your room in service to a murder, would it?

It's not impossible.

He could have fought the Unversed if I'd known.

It's fine- I can defend myself so there's no reason to force him to level up fast.
