It was noon on Friday.

No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.

The world began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards the world they'd experienced once before. 🗈

Perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

Their forms, just like before, were different now. This was less shocking than it was last time, and yet...

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.

Only this time....this was the last time they would be competing. This was the final week...and the final chance they had at securing their wishes - while denying someone theirs.

...Just a little more to go.

I haven't used a single spell since I got here, either, but you all probably would have noticed if I had.

What types of powers do you normally have, Scarred?

Ether manipulation. It's... There's a lot I can do with it. I mainly use it for healing nowadays, but I can use it to mimic people as well.

[It's literally manipulating magical energy. ]

Oh, like when you mimicked voices at breakfast?

Could you use it to cause physical injuries, too?

... Now that you mention it, I remember you tried to read the ether of a tree or something along those lines last week?

What's... ether manipulation?

Ether is energy itself. Everything has ether within it, I can connect to it and move it as I wish.

[That's vague, but that's just how it goes.]

Before I'd used it to try and see how a tree's ether was moving and how far it's roots spread. But I wasn't able to at the time. Changing my voice is the same. I used it to cast a spell to change how I sound.

Oh— wow. I think I get it...

So changing your voice is what you meant by being able to mimic people then?

Yes, that's right. I'm not as capable as my sister though. There's more to mimicking someone than just having the same voice.

[You know, mannerisms and such.]

I have hidden my scars when I've changed places with my sister. But that takes more ether to cast.

I guess that's kind of how it is with mezraez... the more difficult the spell the more you need. What other things have you been able to change or mimic?

I copied Jack's voice earlier. But I can only copy my sisters appearance... You'd be able to tell if it was a man or someone drastically different. It might look different but it feels the same.

Oh— is that just something you'd need more practice with then if you were to try copying other people's appearances or other things like that?

I do need to work on my acting for it. [It earns him a giggle.]

But if I changed my appearance to that of someone taller... Like Takashi. If you were to try and touch 'his' face, your hand would go straight through.
