Keep in mind where we are. How was I to trust that what you recovered was valid in any way? Why wouldn't I believe that this place would try to twist our perceptions or provide misleading information? I didn't even know who or which people's names were on the note in first place. All of you simply stated that it seemed to be in regards to the last trial, in which people had either made the decision to vote Zabuza alongside some innocent or simply two innocents.
In the end, these actions seemed to be more or less indicative of a witch hunt, regardless of your original intentions.
These factors coupled with a myriad other ones were reason enough to hold back, not knowing the entirety of the information that was disclosed on the note until it was revealed that it was simply 'votes' and some names. Before that point, it wasn't a matter of hesitation, but careful evaluation of the information you had apparently 'came' to receive.
